Clarence Krause Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 30, 2015.
Longtime Anchorage resident, Mr. Clarence Franklin Krause, 95, passed away Saturday, August 29, 2015 surrounded by family at his home in Anchorage.

Memorial services will be held 1:30 p.m., Sunday, September 6, 2015 in the Fireside Room at Anchorage First Assembly of God, 1540 C. Street in Anchorage. Pastor Gary Morton will officiate. A reception will immediately follow the service.

Clarence was born December 3, 1919 to Frank Augustus & Elizabeth Katherin Amiela (Vierk) Krause in Park Rapids, Minnesota. He graduated high school and furthered his education attending business courses in college. Clarence moved to Alaska in 1945 residing in Nenana, Mt. McKinley National Park and Palmer before making Anchorage his home. In 1949, as depot manager of the rail station at McKinley Park, he met his future wife, Faith. They were married later that year on June 25, and began their new life and family. In addition to the Alaska Railroad, Clarence worked for the Department of the Army as a civilian at Fort Richardson, from which he retired in 1982. For six years prior to retiring, he and his wife enjoyed a tour of duty in Europe. Clarence was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and Anchorage First Assembly of God. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, reading, walking and playing the organ.

?Dad was a quiet and reserved man who loved his family, took pride in providing for them and always tried to do the right thing. He will be remembered as a good father who taught his sons the important values of life, and as a generous grandfather to his grandchildren. He lived a long and honorable life. He was deeply loved, and will be greatly missed by his family,? wrote his son.

Clarence was preceded in death by his wife Faith Krause in 2005. He is survived by his sons and daughters in-law, Kerwin and Alma Krause of Anchorage, AK and Alan and Kathy Krause of Louisville, CO; grandsons, Aaron Krause of Anchorage, AK and Justin Krause of San Francisco, CA; granddaughters, June Krause of Anchorage, AK and Melissa Krause of Denver, CO.

Arrangements were by Anchorage Funeral Home & Crematory. Please visit Clarence?s obituary and online guestbook at www.AlaskanFuneral.com

Yes, I also have fond memories of Clarence and Faith.

Kerwin, Alan, and Families,
I don't think we have met (my mother was Delbert's sister-- Marcella Shea Tebo). I have fond memories of your parents visiting Fond du Lac when I was a teenager.. I remember you dad complaining about how cold it was and I thought how funny that was since they lived in ALASKA!! I remember him as a charming man and I'm sure he will be missed.. My sympathy to you and you families.

My Uncle was a very special and kind individual. Although I did not have the opportunity to see him often I have some very special memories of the times we spent together. His sister (my mother Bernice) had a special bond until her passing in 2008.

Fifty years is a long time to get to know and love someone. Our hearts are filled with sadness but thankfully to have known Clarence and Faith having fun together from Alaska to Mexico.
We are reminiscing and looking forward to our next life's adventure when we meet again.
