Lynette Kovar Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 18, 2024.
Lynette (Williams) Kovar, 66, of Clearwater, FL and Dearborn MI passed away peacefully January 28, 2024 after a period of extended illness. She is survived by her son Jesse, her former husband David, and her sister Leigh Tunstall. She was predeceased by her father Samuel Williams, mother Barbara (Boros) Williams, and sister Laurie.

Lyn went to Dearborn's Edsel Ford High School where she met and soon married her high school sweetheart, David. She attended UM-Dearborn and Central Michigan Univ with an interest in theology and childhood education. They lived briefly in Lafayette, CO before returning home to give birth to their son Jesse, near friends and family. The young family then lived briefly in North Ogden, UT before finally settling in Clearwater, FL for the next 30 years.

Lyn raised her son believing her most important role was to impart the virtues of empathy and morality during his youth. She homeschooled Jesse, permitting frequent family travel, taking pride in his early college admission. She later worked at PSCU credit union as an account manager. After her divorce, she lived several years at the Hampton Apartments in Clearwater, exploring her independence and enjoying time with friends.

Lyn was loyal and steadfast with the friends she held dear. She loved arts and crafts projects; had a snarky wit and an easy laugh. She loved to dress in bright colored scarves and hats; delighting in a relaxing morning out at Starbucks. She loved Michigan's four seasons, fresh cold snow and the beauty of fall's changing leaves. Lyn cherished her faith and the comfort it offered. She sought to embody its virtues and always see the best in others. She served in her local churches across her entire life: singing in the choir, as organist, or teaching Sunday school. She was a lifelong champion of women's rights and advocated for many social causes.

She delighted in providing surprise gifts to children, regardless of any holiday, often speaking warmly of the innocent joy and happy laughter that such gestures could bring to little ones. Throughout her life, she found a special joy in celebrating and decorating for birthdays and holidays; although Christmas was always particularly special to her. Lynette had a lifelong love of cats. In her later years she found comfort and warm companionship from Buddy and Baby, whom she endlessly adored, and who kept her company for hours on end.

While there will be no public memorial, comments of remembrance are welcome on this page.

In lieu of flowers or consolations, if desired, donations in Lynette's memory are welcome to either the ASPCA or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital - Lynette's two favorite charities that she supported monthly throughout her life.

I met Lyn working at PSCU many years ago. She and I tried to figure out last year exactly how many years ago that was and never figured it out. She and I quickly became friends both in and outside of work. We'd drag our husbands along and have dinner, one of us cooking or meeting at a restaurant. We continued our friendship even after she left work.

Lyn was a wonderful woman!! No matter how much pain she was in, she still tried to smile and was hopeful about getting well.

In her condo when she wasn't able to get out, we'd decide on lunch, I'd pick it up and go up and have lunch with her and she and I would chat for hours about all kinds of stuff. I heard about her growing up in Michigan, living in CO and UT, she talked alot about Jesse & Dave.

Once she moved to rehab, lunch became the GREAT ESCAPE and a day out of the rehab center for her. We'd have lunch just the two of us or one time with my Red Hat Chapter. Then perhaps a shopping trip, but she really just loved to come hang out in the comfort of my home. Cleaning out my huge supply of Red Hats, I offered them to Lyn, she picked a few and afterwards every time we went out she insisted we wear a hat.

From past experience I've lost a mother, spouse and sister. Cherish the memories you have of her as they will always be with you. Shedding tears will help you grieve and move through it. As I write this, tears are falling, as I miss my friend and have been thinking about her alot lately.

My condolences to Jesse, Dave and Leigh.

I remember when Kent & I met Dave & Lyn. Kent and Dave worked together in the computer programming field in 1981. They used to work in the middle of the night. Lyn and I came along to keep the guys company. Lyn and I became fast friends. Visiting with each other. We all became close friends. Lyn was so much fun to be around. We enjoyed her sense of humor. The years went by. Maybe we saw each other one time in twenty years. I was happy to find her again on Facebook in about 2016. Our thoughts and prayers are with Dave and Jesse. I Love You, Lyn. May you be granted rest and healing in Heaven.

This is a beautiful summary of Lynette. What a full life she had with her considerable contributions to your family, her friends, and the community.

I'm so sorry Jesse. I first met your Mom at a Maundy Thursday service at First Presbyterian of Safety Harbor . Kathleen Lambert was our pastor and she arranged a Maundy Thursday service where we washed each other's feet. I washed your Mom's feet, and she mine. It was very meaningful. Lynn later joined the church and was part of our church family for many years. I enjoyed her quick wit, the laughter she brought, we talked politics, gardening, and always a smile. You were a good son. She loved you very much. I've attached a few pics. I will miss her. I'm glad she's at peace.

We meet at a backyard cookout at my house with "Team Kovar."
We played a game that had me completely baffled until Lyn told Dave to give clues from my perspective.
I appreciate her ability to apply empathy.
I always will remember the Kovar family to see the sheep operation; and the fun Christmas parties Lyn and Dave hosted when they lived in No. Ogden.
I miss you - "The Other Lynn"

That´s a beautiful obituary. Condolences to Dave, Jesse, and other loved ones.

Although it has been many years since I last saw or spoke with Lyn, I remember her as smart, witty, and fun. She also exemplified the moral and empathetic personal qualities described in the obituary.
Without getting into specifics I have a memory of Lyn trying with all her heart to talk some sense into me. I realize now that I should have listened. She was sharp.
