Lynn and Dick Van Winkle Obituary

In Loving Memory of Lynn (Weiman) VanWinkle and Richard "Dick" VanWinkle

Lynn and Dick VanWinkle, lifelong residents of Lakewood, Colorado, shared a remarkable love story that spanned more than five decades. High school sweethearts, they both graduated from Jefferson High School and were married on August 27, 1966. Soon after, Dick joined the U.S. Marine Corps, and Lynn followed him to North Carolina during his service - a testament to their devotion that would carry them through a lifetime together.

They built a full and joyful life side by side. While they never had children, they shared their home and hearts with many beloved dogs and cats over the years. Together, they enjoyed camping, hiking, and fishing, later transitioning to RV adventures and spending winters at a cherished place in Arizona. They also enjoyed managing rental properties and a vending business during their working years, and after retirement, they dedicated themselves to time with friends, travel, and one another.

Dick passed away on February 20, 2021, after more than 54 years of marriage, with Lynn by his side. Lynn joined him on July 17, 2025. They leave behind a legacy of love, loyalty, and friendship to all who knew them.

They are survived by Dick's brothers, Ernie and Don VanWinkle; nephew, Ryan VanWinkle (Don's son); Lynn's sisters, Debra Kirkham and Wendy Weiman; and niece, Autumn Ackers (Debra's daughter) with her husband Ryan and their four children. They will be deeply missed by their extended family and many lifelong friends.

A joint memorial will be held August 27th at Saint Paul's Community Church Lakewood, CO 80214, where we will gather to celebrate their lives and the love they shared.
