Obituary

Lynn P. Johnson, age 52, resident of rural Pekin, ND, died unexpectedly on August 23, 2004.
Lynn Philip Johnson was born June 29, 1952 at McVille, ND, the son of Oscar S. and Selma K. (Brude) Johnson. He was raised on his parents farm and educated in the Tolna Public School, where he graduated high school in 1970. He then attended NDSSS at Wahpeton, ND in order to become a sheet metal worker. Lynn worked at Arctic Cat in Thief River Falls, MN for a few years after that, until he returned home to farm with his father near Pekin. In the summers of 1986 & 1987, he was a salmon charter guide on Lake Sakakawea. After a few more years of farming, Lynn decided to return to college, as his desire was to become a social worker. He was attending classes at UND, and concurrently was an antique broker in Grand Forks. He graduated UND in 1994 with a BS in Psychology. During and following the flooding at Grand Forks, Lynn was working for FEMA. He then set out to travel the United States, which he did quite extensively. He returned to Pekin in 1999, and lived on the farm with his father. He was a past member of the Pekin Rod & Gun Club. Lynn thoroughly enjoyed spending time with his beloved nieces and nephews. Lynn will be deeply missed by his 3 siblings; Elliot & his wife Pauline Johnson of West Fargo, ND; Susan & her husband Dennis Plecity of Fargo, ND; and Robert & his wife Celia Johnson of Silverthorne, CO; 3 nieces; 3 nephews; as well as his extended family of aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Keith Johnson. A Memorial Service for Lynn will be held at the Pekin Lutheran Church, on Friday, August 27, 2004, at 11:00 a.m. Interment of his ashes will be private. Visitation will be held at the church on Friday, from 10:00 a.m until the time of service.

I first met Lynn at UND in the summer of 1989. Since that time, we spent many hours talking, attending classes, fishing and encouraging each other. I last talked to him when he stopped in to see me this spring, while he was in Fargo visiting his brother. My sincere sympathy goes out to his family, of whom he was very proud. He will be missed by all.

We wish to extend our sincere sympanthy to his extended family. Though we did not personally know him, we and my parents, Soren and Bella Eliason were very close to his parents.
