Born in Surrey, BC
In loving memory and extreme sadness we share the sudden passing of Lynn Arlene (Elgert). She will be forever missed by her children Sydney, Noah and Dawson; their dad Grant; her parents Edwin and Arlene Elgert; sisters Elsie and family, Lois and family, Corinne and family; and many extended family and friends. Lynn meant so much to so many. She had a beautiful smile and a kind, compassionate heart. She loved her family, animals and her home. Lynn will be loved and kept forever in our hearts. Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, July 20, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Valley View Funeral Home, 14660 72 Ave., Surrey, BC. For online condolences, please visit

Lynn was a client of mine for the last several years. I was just informed of her passing this week and have been feeling a load of grief. We were quite close and shared many thoughts on life together. She was such a beautiful woman and her core was so sweet. I admired her greatly and found her to be a very loving, gentle person. We shared much laughter together over the years. As a mother, with children of similar age, my heart wrenches for her children. She always spoke with such love and pride for them. They have lost a mother too young. I hope they can always reflect on the beautiful loving woman she was! That is how I will remember her.

I met Lynn in November, we became very close friends talking almost everyday, going to church on occasion, cooked her food.
The last time we spoke Lynn was going to join us at Whonnak Lake. Texted her and for over a month did not get a response. Only found out last night, my closest friend is in heaven.
I am in deep shock at the loss of my dear friend. Lynn was one of the kindess, gentle people I have ever know! Lynn was going to show me how to can fruits for the kids!

I had the pleasure of knowing Lynn since the 90's when we met working at the Supreme Court. She was a beautiful woman inside and out. She was a loving and thoughtful friend over the years and I admired her many special traits that made her the wonderful woman and mother she was. My heartfelt condolences to the families and especially Sydney, Noah and Dawson. I'm so very sorry to know this world without Lynn in it. I am devastated and deeply saddened to hear of the loss of Lynn. She was my colleague at the Vancouver Law Courts for years. She was so kind, funny and clever. I have only just heard of her passing as I have been overseas. My sincere condolences to the family. There is a new star in the heavens now. Dearest Arlene & Edwin, our family was devastated to hear your sad news. The loss of your beloved Lynn will leave a huge hole in your lives, and for a time, the pain will seem almost unbearable. This is always the way when someone we love is suddenly gone from our lives. Dad has often been in tears this week thinking of you both and was disappointed to miss Lynn's service. Lynn had an amazing zest for life and she had so much love to give. She had such a talent for making people feel special. We always had so much fun laughing and joking in the office. She cared deeply for everyone around her and was quick to reassure, console and comfort in time of need. She had such a wonderful smile and incredible charisma. Lynn was truly a unique individual and had so many gifts and talents to offer the world. I will forever miss her.

This is Vince Rahn here - the neighbor of the Elgert's on 75th avenue. I felt so heartbroken to hear of Lynn's passing as I grew up with her family. I remember her as a fun loving kid who always had big smile and love for life. One memory I have of her is when she volunteered to sit in a cardboard box while I pushed her down a wooden ladder as a simulated roller coaster. It didn't end the way we hoped it would, but she emerged, unscathed, and just laughed with us about the time we had. Thanks for that, Lynn.

The Lynn I'll always remember was compassionate, vibrant and had a giving heart.
The love she had for her children was apparent to everyone around her, never missing an opportunity to share their accomplishments with her co-workers and friends.
I was lucky to work with her but I was even luckier to have her as a friend.
She will be missed more than words can say.

My deepest sympathy to you Grant, Sydney, Noah and Dawson. I remember your Mom, Lynn, as a dynamic and generous Mom who always had time to dedicate to the school. From fundraising, to transforming the foyer to a Winter Wonderland, to getting dragon tattoos and dragon kids, leather couches etc, she did it all! But mostly she was a loving Mom and giving soul. My dad wrote a poem years ago when someone died too young. I pass it on to you. Much love and many blessings.

Lynn was loved by everyone that knew her. I feel blessed to have been one of the lucky ones to call her a friend. She never missed a birthday, was forever pulling April Fools jokes and loved everything about Halloween! She had so much pride in her home, her workspace and herself. I am so very sorry for your loss. The world has lost a beautiful soul but gained a shining star. May you rest in peace my friend.
