Lynn Howard Mashburn age 91, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, June 17, 2018. He was born on June 25, 1926 to parents Poley Monroe and Grace Pierce Mashburn. He was a long time resident of Knoxville, Tennessee and was a current member of Bookwalter Methodist Church of Inskip. Lynn was a devoted husband for 68 years to Betty Wallace Mashburn and a loving father of his sons and a faithful friend to many. Lynn retired from TVA in 1988 and worked at several construction sites including St. Mary's Hospital, Hamilton National Bank, and Oak Ridge Y-12 and periodically worked with his father in Mashburn's Garage most of his life. He drove dirt track race cars built by him and his father at Knoxville Speedway, 411 Raceway, and many other tracks for 20 to 25 years and was pinned "Speedy" by his friends. Lynn was an Army veteran and served our country during World War II and was honorably discharged in 1945. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Betty, sisters: Edith Jones, Mildred Northern, and Frances Goosie; brothers Gene Mashburn and Paul Mashburn. He is survived by his two sons, Charles Monroe (Pat) Mashburn, Gary Lynn (Kathy) Mashburn, and his grandson Ryan Mashburn and his friend Jessica, and many nieces and nephews. The family receive friends from 6:00 pm-8:00 pm at ROSE MORTUARY BROADWAY CHAPEL on Thursday, June 21, 2018, immediately followed by an 8:00 pm funeral service officiated by Rev. Fred West, Jr. Family and friends will meet at 10:15 am on Friday, June 22, 2018 at Rose Mortuary Broadway Chapel and travel in procession to Lynnhurst Cemetery for an 11:00 am graveside officiated by Rev. David Lord. Full military honors will be presented by Volunteer State Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be made to Bookwalter United Methodist Church.
