Lynn McClure O'Brien

August 10, 1933 - January 11, 2025

Lynn McClure O'Brien passed away peacefully on January 11, 2025, at the age of 91. She is survived by her daughters, Pamela McClure O'Brien and Shawn McClure O'Brien, and her beloved grandchildren, Rémy Robert and Raphael Robert.

Born on August 10, 1933, Lynn was the youngest of three children for Edith Shaw McClure and Ronalde Chester McClure. Ronalde affectionately nicknamed her "Dimp" for the dimple in her chin, an endearing feature that endured through her last days and a telltale sign of her mischievous sense of humor. She often said about it, "Dimple in the chin, devil within." Even in old age, Lynn loved to stick out her tongue or make funny faces, never taking life too seriously. Lynn was a complex woman: feisty, but tenderhearted; tough in her own way, but sensitive. She was sharp as a tack and nothing got by her. Her home was often filled with her dearest friends, all of whom were unforgettable characters, as her primary criterion for friends was that they be fun. And they were!

Lynn was a proud alumna of Louise S. McGehee School, as were both of her daughters and her granddaughter. Lynn loved that tradition, and enjoyed telling stories of her time as a "McGehee girl." She went on to attend Newcomb College at Tulane University. A gifted cook, Lynn engendered a love of food in everyone she hosted, particularly in her grandchildren, who fondly remember learning to cook during weekly sleepovers at her house as children.

A service will be held in her memory on Friday, February 7, 2025 at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Lakeview at 11:00 AM with visitation at 10:00 AM. All are welcome.
