Lynn Trunz Dominick Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Dec. 3, 2024.
Lynn Trunz Dominick, of Phippsburg, ME, passed away peacefully at home on November 15, 2024 just days shy of her 86th birthday.

Known to her friends and family as Deede, she was born on November 27, 1938 to Shirley Gordon and Lloyd Lendewig in San Francisco, CA. Her father, Lloyd, died in World War II, and Deede was then adopted by her loving stepfather, Charles M. Trunz of New York. She graduated from the Master's School in Dobbs Ferry, NY, and received a degree in art from Briarcliff College. She earned a Master of Social Work from Adelphi University and practiced as a psychotherapist in institutional settings and in private practice.

She met her husband, Oliver Dominick in Cambridge, MA in 1986 where she was attending a video production workshop to make instructional materials for psychotherapists.

Pursuing her varied interests, Deede received her private pilot's license in 1998. For 33 years she and "Ol" flew all around the US, Canada, and the Bahamas. She loved the water, doing water ballet as a teen and eventually getting a SCUBA certificate. She enjoyed adventure travel which led her to Alaska, British Columbia, Argentina, Costa Rica and twice to Africa, her favorite. Deede's artistic talents were wonderfully realized in the superb interior design and decoration of her homes as well as in her efforts with drawing, painting and photography. Above all she truly loved her family with her whole heart, and she deeply enjoyed people of all sorts simply for who they were.

Deede was predeceased by her grandson, Jacob Berg. She is survived by her husband, Oliver Dominick, her three children from her prior marriage, David C. Clapp, Jr, Katherine Clapp and Alison Bower, and four grandsons, Charles Berg and Taliesin, Aodhan and Malcom Bower.

A memorial service will be held in the spring at a time and location to be announced in the Desmond Funeral Home website. In lieu of flowers, Deede's wish was that donations be made to The Cancer Research Institute or The Nature Conservancy.
