Lynne M. (Fontinha) Blaney, of Middleboro, MA, formerly of Largo, FL and longtime resident of Easton, MA passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 17, 2024, at the age of 74 after a courageous battle with Mixed Dementia and Renal Failure. She was the devoted wife of 34 years to Paul A. Blaney of Largo, FL. Loving mother to her two children, John H. Graham and his wife Cara of Middleboro, MA and Catherine (Graham) Zejnullahu and her husband Adam of Middleboro, MA; grandmother to Erin Graham of Brooklyn, NY and Kayleigh Graham of Middleboro, MA; sibling to Russell Olson and his wife Gayle of Dennis Port, MA, Cheryl Johnson and her late husband, Daniel Johnson of Easton, MA, and Laurie Anderson of Wareham, MA. She is also survived by many adored nieces and nephews, cousins and other assorted family and many caring friends. Lynne was pre-deceased by her beloved parents, Ernestine "Bunnie" Fontinha (Raby) and Anthony J. Fontinha.
Lynne was raised in Easton, MA and graduated from Oliver Ames High School in 1967 where she played field hockey, participated in numerous clubs, and was voted Class Flirt. She went on to study Business Automation and Bookkeeping at Andover Institute of Business, achieving her Certificate of Completion in 1969.
Lynne was extremely hardworking, maintaining two jobs most of her life. She was a fixture at her parents' restaurant, Bunnie's Lunch, in Brockton, MA where she loved to gab with the customers and eventually met her first husband, John Graham. Later she worked part-time in the cafeteria at Oliver Ames HS in Easton, where she used her position to get the "scoop" on her kids' activities from their friends. During this time, she also worked at the Brockton V.A. Hospital for many years before transferring to the Bay Pines V.A. Hospital in Seminole, FL in 1990, where she completed 35 years of service.
Lynne was a devoted mother who worked tirelessly to provide opportunities for her kids instilling the gifts of hard work, integrity, loyalty, and love of family. She spent countless hours cheering John and Cathy on at baseball, soccer, football, gymnastics, hockey and any other activity they wished to pursue. She would often remark that her greatest accomplishment was her children who she proudly boasted achieved careers in law enforcement and the legal profession.
Lynne spent many years vacationing in Dennis Port, where she enjoyed time with family and friends. Countless days were spent at the beach, playing Rummy 500 and Uno, and taking the kids (including her many nieces and nephews) to mini golf, the Go-Karts, and the Barn of Fun. She loved visits to The Wee Packet Restaurant and the Sundae School - two of her favorites. Only to be topped by "coffee talk," where she could often be found with her sister, Cheryl or her dear friends spending hours laughing and sharing life's challenges.
Lynne loved living in Florida where in later years, she devoted much of her time to caring for her parents. She did this not out of obligation, but because of who she was and the love she had for family. She enjoyed going shopping and to bingo with her mother and was always happy to help elderly neighbors with rides to appointments and caregiving tasks. Listening to her father play the harmonica and guitar, and sing were some of her other favorite things to do.
She also enjoyed bowling, Sudoku (at which her sister Cheryl claims she always cheated), and crocheting. Time spent with her pets was also treasured, especially her dog Penny and later her grand pups, Bailey and Tucker. In recent years when her illness took hold, Lynne became a big fan of KENO and loved to play the penny slots. She also became obsessed with the Game Show Network - always critiquing the players and shouting out answers.
Most of all, Lynne loved and enjoyed her family. Whether attending her grandchildren's activities, spending holidays and special occasions, or just hanging out with her loved ones, this was her legacy. She was dearly loved and will be forever missed.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather at 11:00 a.m. with a memorial service to follow at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 30th at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church located at 143 Lincoln Street, North Easton, MA. A private burial will be held at The South Easton Cemetery in South Easton, MA on a future date.
