M. Louise (Keller) and Carlos C. Crain Obituary

M. Louise (Keller) and Carlos C. Leawood, KS Crain Louise: 1/24/1936-1/11/2020 & Carlos: 7/2/1932-2/11/2020

M. Louise Keller Crain(83), and Carlos C. Crain(87), parents(5), grandparents(12) and great grandparents(4) passed away to be with our heavenly Lord on Jan. 11, and Feb. 11, 2020.

Born of humble beginnings on rural farms in Hope, IN, Carlos & Mary Louise graduated Hope High School. Louise pursued a nursing degree (Wishard Indpls), later receiving a Masters Health Sciences. Carlos began as a tool & die apprentice, enlisted in the Navy (E6 electronics tech & combat aircrewman in Hawaii) during the Korean War, later receiving a BSEE from Purdue Univ. & Masters from Butler Univ. In 1957, they married, had 5 children, worked as a nurse and engineer at Western Electric in Indpls. Later, they transferred to NYC working with Bell Labs and managing AT&T's advance manufacturing. Moving to Carmel, IN, all 4 living children attended PU (3 receiving BSEE).

In Kansas City, KS Carlos ran AT&T manufacturing operations while Louise volunteered at church, her community and worked at a medical office bringing high level skill, healing, joy and laughter to all who came into her enveloping presence. Always lifelong learners and educators ahead of their time, they inspired us all.

Retired, they enjoyed an active life of adventures with children's families, always opening their door. They became a Stephen Minister and active members of Mustang Club, Toastmasters, IEEE, KC election committee, Eastern Star, Masons and Shriners. Nothing gave more joy than Pops' donut runs with grandkids loaded into his restored 1965 convertible mustang "Oh My 65!" or trips with Mom to the Dollar store, pool and nightly euchre games! They both leave a legacy of touching & impacting many lives that will influence generations to come.

Louise was preceded in death by parents Keith & Edith Keller, brothers Omer, Glen, and Paul, and son, Scott Phillip Crain. Carlos was preceded by death by parents Nelson and Addie Carpenter Crain, brothers Elbert and James, and sister Pearl Rednour.

Survived by children, Gary Crain (Karis-s, Austin, Madison, Alyssa), Kathy Crain (Jim-s, Shari-Andy (Oliver, Cooper), Michelle-Ben (Diana, Katherine), Carla, Michael), Greg Crain (Cindy-s, Keegan & Kitara), Scott P. Crain (deceased), and Shari (Crain) Schmok (Scott-s, Logan, Dane & Jessica).

Our sorrowful passion runs deep but are grateful for their many blessings and devotion to family while inspiring us to dream bigger. They live on in us all. Both passed surrounded by loved ones while holding hands & hearts. We miss our beautiful parents immensely. Thank you. Your life well-loved is well lived.

Final Joint Celebration of Carlos & Louise at Hope Moravian Church, Hope IN. August 20, 2022 3:30pm. Condolences at www.NormanFuneralHome.net Donations: Shriners Hospital and Hope Moravian Church.
