Mabel Bell Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 19, 2025.
Mabel Bell (née Goodwin), age 81, passed away peacefully, after a long illness, on May 17, 2025, in Brookfield, Wisconsin surrounded by family.

Born on December 26, 1943, in Bridgeton, New Jersey, Mabel lived a life marked by faith, compassion, and unwavering devotion to her family and community.

Mabel was the daughter of Hulley I Goodwin and Nina V. (Barnes) Goodwin and she grew up in a large and loving family alongside her 9 siblings.

She was married to Peter D. Bell Jr., with whom she shared a deep and enduring partnership until his passing. Together they raised a family that brought them great pride and joy. Mabel is lovingly remembered by her children: Nina Bell-Graves (Duane) of Bridgeton, NJ, Patricia Grace (Carl) of Bridgeton, NJ, Peter D. Bell III (Terri) of Menomonee Falls, WI, Michael Bell (Marion) of Los Angeles, CA and Tracey Bell of Millville, NJ. She also leaves behind her sister Barbara Frazier Carpenter and a legacy of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews who were blessed by her warmth and guidance.

She was predeceased by her parents: Hulley I. Goodwin and Nina V. (Barnes)Goodwin. Her brothers: Hulley Goodwin Jr, Andrew Goodwin and Norris Goodwin Sr. and her sisters: Nina Goodwin, Rosemary Thompson, Rebekah Money, Carolyn Goodwin and Eileen Goodwin

Professionally, Mabel dedicated many years of service to the State of New Jersey at the Vineland Developmental Center until her retirement. Her work reflected the same care and dedication that she brought to every aspect of her life.

A woman of deep spiritual conviction, Mabel dedicated her life to Jehovah God and was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses in 1958. Her faith was central to who she was-she loved sharing it with others and found joy in helping people come to know Jehovah. For most of her life, she attended the Bridgeton Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses before later becoming part of the Nash Park Congregation in Milwaukee.

Mabel will be remembered as a faithful servant of Jehovah, loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, auntie, sister, and friend. She had a radiant spirit that touched everyone around her. Her generosity knew no bounds and she consistently put others' needs ahead of her own. Her presence brought light and comfort to all who knew her.

May Mabel's memory bring peace to those who mourn her loss and continue to inspire acts of kindness for generations to come.
