My thoughts & prayers will be with you, Florence, & family at this time. I knew Mabel a little, when I was growing up in Ottawa. But she was a BIG influence in my life, especially after she had the polio. I went into nursing, & ended up in chronic care. Her influence definitely helped in looking after paralyzed people. She even taught my brother David, I believe, who was also a nurse (a Brockville affiliate). I will never forget her.
With Love,

So thankful for you Mabel, for the encouragement to me, my daughter Jacquelyn (who spends a lot of her life in a wheelchair due to CP) and the rest of my family.
I had the joy of serving Mabel in her home shortly after I completed my nurse's training.
Mabel always had a special place in her heart for the youth!
I cannot say rest in peace to Mable. I know she will be busy, actively spurring us on!
Thank you Mabel!

Twenty eight years ago I was offered a three month work experience in Ottawa. I was living in Vancouver at the time. I accepted and three months turned into a year. I feel honored and blessed to have been one of the many live in personal attendants for Mabel, and often the question was asked...."who is taking care of who?" I learned more than I could have imagined in that short time. In the years following my time with Mabel, we remained friends and I always felt special and loved in her presence.. She is the strongest woman I know and never let her physical afflictions (of which there were many ) define her. Rest in peace. Run freely and dance! And live, live , live!!! For all eternity.

Mable was an example of a courageous, strong, virtuous woman. She will be missed by all who knew her.

I have many happy memories of Mabel during our fulfilling nurses training days. My sweetest memory is from the very first day in the classroom. Not knowing anyone, I timidly entered where all the new students were gathering. Mabel saw me arriving, stood up, waved and called out "Hi Iva". I immediately felt so at ease that I had found a friend.
We had met at a meeting where Homer was singing, but I was unaware of her plans to become a nurse. As we became good friends, Mabel, Claire Danning and I formed a trio which we called "The Nurses Trio". We sang in different churches and youth groups.
After graduation our paths seperated, but in recent years it was a joy to be with her at our Nurses Christmas luncheon.
Her life was evidence of God's sustaining power. Although she has gone before me, I know that once again through a crowd of people I will hear "Hi Iva!" as we meet in heaven.
