Madeline Baker Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 5, 2021.
Madeline Christine Baker
September 15, 1994 - December 17, 2020
Madeline Baker (Maddie), beloved daughter of Leanna Jackson and Greg Baker, both of Santa Rosa, CA, passed peacefully surrounded by family on December 17, 2020.
Despite her physical challenges, Maddie spent much of her time helping others – this defined and enriched her life. She loved children and worked as a teacher at Kiwi Preschool after receiving her teaching credential at Santa Rosa Junior College. Attending New Horizon School in Santa Rosa at a young age was instrumental in Maddie's life, meeting her physical needs, and introducing her to wonderful friends, allowing her to grow and become the bright young woman that brought a smile to everyone she met.
It was her work teaching young kids at Kiwi that made Maddie so incredibly happy. She was always thinking up new ways to help and educate the kids. And like most teachers, Maddie personally invested in resources to make sure all her kids had what they needed to learn, and complete their art projects and other schoolwork.
Maddie was an amazing young woman who was all heart; and despite the challenging hand she was dealt, always found ways to help others through fundraisers and gift-giving. A talented artist, she was able to touch those around her by sharing her art as gifts for friends and loved ones. She was also a strong animal adoption advocate, volunteering in cat adoptions and fostering kittens. Taking care of others truly made Maddie happy.
Madeline is survived by her mother, Leanna Jarvis Jackson; father, Greg Baker; Brother Justin Baker; Stepfather, Tom Jackson; and stepsiblings Jamie Simontacchi and Christopher Jackson.
She will be missed by her friends, family, and all those she touched in the community. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.

Madeline, I remember the first time I saw you on Princeton road running around with such energy and freedom. You were a burst of energy and life. Then, you got sick. So unfair. So sad. So unbelievable. And then, you took all of that extra energy I saw and fought so hard, longer and harder than anyone I've ever met. You were and are an inspiration. You touched my life. My girls and I love you. Be free from pain and discomfort and I will do all I can do to comfort your Mom and your loved ones. I'm sure my Mom in Heaven have already welcomed you dearly. We miss you her on Earth but sure you are running free from pain and looking just like I saw you for the first time on Princeton rd. I can see you hugging all of the animals right now. Thank you for your love here on Earth.

Maddie was a wonderful student; I had the pleasure of teaching her in two Child Development classes at SRJC. Her determination to accomplish her goal of becoming a preschool teacher, in spite of many health challenges, was truly an inspiration to her fellow students. I will always remember her with great affection.
