Madeline Carey Kelley, 82, of Darien, CT, formerly of New Canaan, CT passed away on October 28, 2024. Madeline is predeceased by her beloved husband, Mark Emmett Kelley of 56 years, and is survived by her five children, seventeen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; Mark & Anne Kelley of Wellesley, MA - Ryan, Meghan, Lauren and Owen Kelley; Carey (Kelley) & Paul Stenberg of Needham, MA - Kelley and (husband) John Walsh and daughter, Rosie Walsh, William and (wife) Leah and son, William Stenberg, Madeline, Thomas and Michael Stenberg; Matthew & Maggie Kelley of Norwalk, CT - Sarah, Maura, and Matthew Kelley; Jason & Kerrie Kelley of Darien, CT - Jack and Campbell Kelley; Jennifer (Kelley) & Kevin Hogan of Ridgewood, NJ - Kathryn, Timothy, and Elizabeth Hogan.

Madeline was born on March 25, 1942 in Lynn, MA and was the older of two daughters to William Carey, Esq. (deceased) and Madeline Linnehan Carey (deceased). Madeline is survived by her younger sister, Kathleen Carey Smith. Madeline was born and raised in Swampscott, MA and graduated from Swampscott High School. Madeline attended Marymount College in Tarrytown, NY and majored in English. Madeline and Mark were married on March 17, 1962 and raised their five children on Silvermine Road in New Canaan.

Madeline was a devout Catholic and active parishioner in the prayer group and Emmaus community at Saint Aloysius Church, New Canaan and later in Enfield, NH. Madeline was an artist and loved to travel. She would recreate the memories of her travels in her watercolor still life and landscape paintings.

Madeline dedicated her life to her husband and raising her five children and creating a home filled with love. All were welcome at the Kelley house. Madeline was a true and loving friend to all she met. Madeline lived her faith each day and brought joy to all around her.

Please join us to celebrate Madeline's life with a funeral mass on Friday, November 8, 2024 at 10:00 am at St. Aloysius Church in New Canaan, CT. In lieu of wake, the Kelley family will have an open greeting at St. Aloysius Church from 9:00 am – 10:00 am. In Madeline's memory, charitable donations can be directed to Emmaus, 40 Maple Street, New Canaan, CT 06840.
