Madeline Mangan Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 14, 2025.

It is with heavy heart we announce the passing of Madeline Brewer Mangan. Madeline was a devoted wife, daughter, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and cherished friend. She left this world on July 9, 2025 at the age of 79. She was born in Savannah, Georgia on August 12, 1945 to the late Joseph and Cecile Spencer Brewer. She lived a life full of love, laughter, and joy. She left behind a legacy that will be forever remembered.

She devoted over 45 years of her life to her beloved husband, William Owen Mangan III (Bill) until his passing six years ago. Their partnership was a testament to enduring love characterized by shared adventures, memorable gatherings, devotion to their animals, and the unwavering support they offered each other. As a middle child among four siblings, she demonstrated a strong familial bond and a compassionate spirit throughout life.

Her professional journey included many years with IBM and ultimately the role of Director of Taxpayer Services Division at Georgia Department of Revenue until her retirement. Upon her retirement, she turned her focused to her true passions including her love for the beach, particularly the beautiful shores of Mexico City, and her cherished dachshunds often sharing her home with at least two companions at a time.

She was a devoted mother and grandmother. She took immense pride in her family's achievements and true joy in attending her grandchildren's school events and celebrating their milestones. She was a passionate Atlanta Braves fan, loved hosting parties and bringing family and friends together to create cherished memories.

Madeline's spirit will be celebrated in a life well-lived filled with love, laughter, and mischievous qualities that endeared her to all who knew her. While we mourn her passing, we find solace in the memories she created and the love she freely gave to all those around her.

She was preceded in death by her husband William Owen Mangan III; her parents, Joseph and Cecile Brewer; her brother, Robert Brewer; and her sisters Debra Brewer Thompson and Angie Robinson.

She is survived by her son, William Owen Mangan IV; her grandchildren, Madeline Davis Mangan and William Hamilton Mangan; her sister, Marjorie Brewer Butler; her brothers in law Richard Mangan and Charlie Mangan (Micki); her sister in law Mary Mangan Nichols (Bart);and many nieces and nephews.

The family will honor Madeline privately. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Little Paws Dachshund Rescue. (www.littlepawsdr.org/donate)

I would like to make a correction, to my post from July 14th. In mentioning tributes, to our sweet Madeline, my auto correct, put Angie Diane, as one of our 4 Musketeers. I hope most people know, that I meant ANGIE DOANE. She was Madeline´s cousin, and they loved each other dearly! Today, is actually Angie´s Heavenly birthday, and I just know, she and Madeline, are hugging each other tightly. I apologize for the mistake, but auto correct, doesn´t always, give the correct word. Continued Prayers, for all of Madeline´s family! She was the best!

I will miss my friend of 50 years. Though we didn´t see one another much after the Mangan´s moved to Georgia, when we did or spoke on the phone it was like no time had passed.

So many happy memories of the K of C days.
Your kindness, empathy, and love will never be forgotten. One of my favorite people ever.

Sleep in heavenly peace my friend.

Madeline, lived across the street from me as a child. We were hooked at hips, so to speak, from the time we met. We went through 1st grade, all the way through high school together. She, Barbara Reaves, Angie Diane, and myself, spent our whole childhood, preteen, teenage life together. We were inseparable. We went to church together, and all 4 of us were Baptized one special Sunday morning, at Morningside Baptist Church. We were known as the 4 Musketeers. My heart is broken to know, she is no longer with us, but the precious memories, she left in my heart, will never ever be forgotten! Rest in peace my forever friend, and I will see you in heaven one day! My love and prayers, go out to her son, her grandchildren, Margie, her family, Billy´s family, and all of her many friends, who loved her. Love you Madeline, Brenda Anderson Sutton!

Madeline was one of the most amazing people I had the pleasure of working with at Revenue. I went thru a tough time and she was right there with me supporting me all the way. I loved her dearly.
