Mafalda Capone

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our dear mother, grandmother and great grandmother Mafalda Capone on August 5th, 2015. Mafalda was predeceased by her husband Vincenzo and is survived by son Luigi Capone(Lori), his sons Jonathan(Laura) and Adam. Survived by son
Giuseppe Capone(Karen) his daughters Chelsey Ruston(Kris) with Mafalda's great-grand-children Parker and Danica and daughter Holly Capone(Patrick). Survived by daughter Maria Capone and her daughters Olivia and Lena Lund. Mafalda is also survived by brother Raffale(Toronto), and sisters Viola(Italy), Carmela(Toronto) and Rosa (England) and numerous brother-in-laws, sister-in-laws, nephews and nieces throughout Canada, England, Belgium and Italy.
Mafalda will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
Mafalda was born in Candida, in the Province of Avellino, Italy. She was one of eight sisters and a brother who were raised on a farm a few kilometers from Montefalcione.
It was Montefalcione where she met Vincenzo and were married a short time later. In 1952 they moved to Belgium where their two sons were born and in 1957 immigrated to Kamloops and a daughter arrived a few years later.
Ma was a traditional Italian mama and nonna. Cooking, cleaning, baking and canning was just par for the course. Caring and loving her family was her passion. She always asked about your welfare and that of the kids. Before her illness her memory was sharp as a tack and could remember so much detail about family history that it was uncanny.
She was very proud of her garden and generously gave fruit and vegetables to family and friends every year.

A Prayer Service will be held in Sacred Heart Cathedral at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 12th.
The Reverend Father Swann Kim will celebrate the Funeral Mass in the Cathedral on Thursday, August 13th at 11:00 a.m.
Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery.
