It is with love that the nieces and nephews of Magda Burechailo announce her passing at Lakeview Pioneer Lodge on October 22, 2012 with family at her side. Magda was born in the Tarnopol district on October 5, 1914, to Nykolai and Tykyna Rudeichuk. When she was 6 years old, her family moved to Bonne Madone to a new farm near Tykyna's family. Magda later wrote that she experienced 3 highlights in her life, and the first was In 1939 when she began working at the Anna Turnbull Hospital on the shore of Wakaw Lake. It was here that she met the love of her life and soul mate, George Burechailo. The second highlight was in 1941 when they became husband and wife. In 1948, seeking a better future, Magda and George moved to Toronto where they became employed by the Robert Simpson's company. In 1988, fulfilling their lifelong dream, and the third highlight in life, they moved back home to Wakaw to live out their retirement years near family. Magda's time was spent watching over her extended family and writing histories about her ancestors and their new found life in Canada. Her beloved Husband George passed away in 2005. Magda was predeceased by her parents Nykolai and Tykyna, her husband George, brothers Edward (Edna) Rudichuk and Nick (Pauline) Rudeichuk sisters Mary (Pete) Hrynuik, Helen (Albert) Kozak and Anne (in infancy) and a nephew Fred Hrynuik. She is survived by 21 Nieces and Nephews, their extended families and friends. It is said that death is the beginning of a new life, and for this, she is now experiencing her 4th highlight. A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday October 27, 2012 at the Wakaw United Church at 10:30 am with Rev. Robert Thompson officiating. Interment will follow in the United Church Cemetery. Donations in memory of Magda, may be directed to the Wakaw Fire Dept. or Lakeview Pioneer Lodge, Wakaw.
