Malcolm ROBERTS Obituary

Published by Calgary Herald from Jun. 21 to Jun. 22, 2013.
ROBERTS, Malcolm Winston
March 20, 1941 - June 19, 2013
Malcolm Winston Roberts passed away in the presence of his loving family at the Rockyview Hospital in Calgary on Wednesday, June 19, 2013 at the age of 72 years. He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years Judy; his two daughters Dawn Roberts and Lorna Uniacke, her husband Sean and his grandchildren Mitchell and Lauren; his Uncle Irvin, Amparo and family in Spain, his Aunty Naomi and Aunty Marie and his extended cousins and family in Trinidad including the Mitchell's, Kasmally's and Lutchman's. Malcolm was predeceased by his parents Charles and Selma "Dolly" Roberts. His family would like to extend a special thanks to the Rockyview Emergency Department and Unit 93 along with Dr. David Todd and Dr. Matt Van Olm and their staff for their outstanding care and support. Malcolm was born on March 19, 1941 in the city of St. James in Trinidad, West Indies. Trinidad is where he learned his love for life and where he gained his nickname of "Bunny". He left Trinidad in the early 1960's for England where he attended St. Mary's College and worked at City & Guilds. England is where he met and married Judy in 1966 and welcomed his first born Dawn. They immigrated to Canada in 1970 where they made Calgary their new home and welcomed Lorna to the family. His career included retail, sales and customer service until he retired in 2011 from Star Choice/Shaw. Malcolm always put his family first, loved to make people laugh and had a song for any occasion. He was grounded in his faith, was the ultimate Stampeders' football fan, and found great happiness in being around his colleagues and friends. He was a role model, a mentor and a true gentleman. A Celebration of his Life will be held at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church (703 Heritage Drive S.W.) on Monday, June 24, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. A reception will take place at the church following the service. Photos, memories and condolences may be shared with Malcolm's family through www.evanjstrong.com. In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may be made directly to the Canadian Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation (47 Squire Bakers Lane, Markham, Ontario L3P 3G8. Judy, it has been so hard watching Malcolm this last few months. We know what a bright, energetic, wonderful person he truly was. He loved to sing, we loved him to come in the door singing to us. God Bless you all. Malcolm will greet us in heaven singing with the angels!

Malcolm was the bestest friend a person could ever have, every day was a good day for him, you'll never know if he's having troubles because he's always smiling. He was a very good friend to me, I was looking forward to his yearly visit in December to Shaw Barlow, and now this... May God rest your soul Malcolm, may God bless and be with you - his family in this time of loss. God bless you.

Judy and family - words just cannot even start to convey my sympathy for you - John so much enjoyed singing in the choir at Trinity with Malcolm and I can just hear the two of them singing up a storm in heaven as they both always walked around singing- we are all so lucky to have had them in our lives and now they're brightening things up in heaven Love, Trudy Kenney Brownlee
