Malcolm A. Sibley

Malcolm "Sib" A. Sibley, 73, of 96 Pleasant St., Winchendon, died unexpectedly Friday, May 1, 2009 at St. Vincent's Hospital at the Worcester Medical Center. Sib, son of the late Amasa and Dorothy (Minns) Sibley, was born in Winchendon on April 27, 1936 and lived here all of his full life. Sib graduated from Murdock High School in Winchendon, Class of 1954 and was a veteran of the United States Air Force, serving four years active duty and six years with the Air Force Reserves. He worked with New England Wooden Ware in Gardner for 40 years, retiring on August 28, 1998. For fifteen years, Sib was a member of the Winchendon Housing Authority and has served as its Chairman. He was on the ballot for re-election this week. He was a member of the former Winchendon Jaycees and a past President of the Winchendon Little League. He served as President of the Union at New England Wooden Ware and was a member of the Hall of Fame Committee at Murdock High School. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and all sports and was especially proud of his grandchildren. Sib was very excited about the impending birth of his newest great grandchild in July. Sib is survived by his wife; Virginia (Cote) Sibley, with whom he shared over 52 years of marriage, one daughter; Lori White and her husband Patrick of Winchendon, one son; Scott M. Sibley and his wife Jennifer of Ashburnham, one brother; Joel T. Sibley and his wife Eva of Ashburnham, 9 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, 6 nephews and 1 niece. He was predeceased by a daughter; Heidi Lafrennie of Winchendon who died April 3, 2007. Calling hours will be held in the FLETCHER-HEBERT FUNERAL HOME, 70 Pleasant St. Winchendon on Thursday, May 7, 2009 from 5 pm until 8 pm. His Funeral Service will be held in the funeral home on Friday, May 8, 2009 at 10AM. Rev. F. Calvin Miller will officiate. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Winchendon.
