Age 87 of Mazon, Illinois passed away on May 12, 2025 at Morris Community Hospital of Morris, Illinois with family by his side.
Phil was born on February 18, 1938 at Morris Community Hospital to the late George, Sr. and Betty (Emro) Mehochko. He was a graduate of Gardner High School, and through means of a family friend went on to meet the love of his life, Rosemarie Storm from Mazon.
Phil married Rosemarie on January 28, 1957, and their union produced six children; Philip, Jr., Rodney, James, Lynn, Karen, and Sharon. He was employed by Mobil Oil Refinery for many years until his retirement.
A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, he loved restoring cars and fishing. Phil established Riverside Restorations to pursue his hobby of restoring old cars.
Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Rose (Storm) Mehochko of Mazon, Illinois; children, James (Diana) Mehochko of Horseshoe Bay, Texas; Lynn (Steven) Bernhard of Channahon, Illinois, and Karen Prodehl of Mazon, Illinois; grandchildren: Anna, Emily, Katie, Morgan, Sharon, Rodney, Riley, Sarah, and Kimberly; great grandchildren: Yehonatan, Nicholas, Celedonio, Caleb, Josef, Breanna, Makayla, Connor, Haylee, Josh and Alyssa.
Phil was preceded in death by his brothers, Ernie, George, Ed, Harold, and Robert; three children, Sharon (in infancy), Rodney, and Philip, Jr.
The family will receive friends for a visitation at Reeves Funeral Home, 75 N. Broadway (one block north of Illinois Route 113) in Coal City on Sunday, May 18, 2025 from 12:00 p.m. until time of funeral service, 3:00 p.m. Rev. Dr. Robert Moynihan will officiate, and cremation rites will be accorded at the conclusion of the services. Phil will be privately laid to rest in Braceville-Gardner Cemetery.
