Mandeep Kaila Obituary

Published by Daily Record from Aug. 17 to Aug. 25, 2011.
Mandeep Singh Kaila was born in Seattle, Washington on April 23rd, 1989.  As a boy, he attended school at Mt. Stuart Elementary and Morgan Middle School. He later graduated from Ellensburg High School in 2007, then went on to major in finances at Central Washington University. No matter where he went, everyone was instantly drawn to his vibrant personality and his ability to pull together all sorts of people to feel like a family

On Saturday, August 13th, Mandeep tragically passed away at the age of 22 after suffering cardiac arrest. His dreams and hopes were cut short, but his memory is still with us. Ever ready for adventure, Mandeep was always there for those he loved and his infectious laughter and humor never failed to bring cheer to others. He found the good in those around him and, in doing so, brought the best out in everyone. The passionate brilliance Mandeep brought into the world has had a profound effect upon all he touched throughout his short but full life; even the simplest memories turn into smiles as we think of how much he meant to each of us.

Mandeep will always be remembered as the radiant life of the party, constantly grinning and quick to make friends. He was very close to both his friends and family, and will be missed immensely.  The absence of his warm, ever-present smile will be missed, but remains in all of our hearts. He will continue live on in the lives of his family members, to whom Mandeep meant the world: his father Gurmit, his mother Kulwinderjit, his sister Jasvir, and his brother Amandeep, as well as in all those who met and knew him.

There will be a funeral service held in Mandeep's honor at the Marlatt Funeral Home on Sunday, August 21st at 1 PM in Kent, Washington. A temple ceremony will follow in the Gurudwara Singh Sabha of Washington in Renton, Washington where a loving farewell will be given to one of the most vivacious souls many have met or will ever meet.

Mandeep-
It's hard to see this all happen so sudden and that you aren't here anymore. I wish I could have ran into you again in the Burg. It hurts to see someone who's always been a kind, funny and outgoing person all of the time and life coming to an end. But I do hope that wherever you are, you are happy and watch over your family and friends. We will all see you soon. You were a good person with a good heart. From someone who didn't know you the best, you never gave a negative impression. In peace.

"I think Mr. Long is a great teacher and a Good Samaritan of America," Mandeep states in the YouTube video CINCO DE MAYO WITH MR. LONG. Those words reflect well Mandeep's warmth and character--he thought of others and made the world a better place. He was an exceptional citizen and put the needs of others ahead of his own. We will miss him. Stan Long, Ellensburg High School Distinguished Teacher of the Year, 2007

The first time I met Mandeep was as a reading buddy in kindergarten. My class of fourth graders read with his class. I asked the teacher who the boy was with the most beautiful eyes I had ever seen. I introduced myself and kept track of him through school. My husband, Kirk, had him in his class at EHS and thought he was a very nice and pleasant young man. We are so sorry for your loss. He was a wonderful person.

family of mandeep:
I was a staff member who took care of Mandeep in the hospital he was brought into and my heart goes out to everyone.
Thought my time with Mandeep was brief the love I saw that was shown by family and friends was phenomenal.
My heart and thoughts go out to the family of this wonderful person. He lives in your hearts until you meet again and every day he walks beside you. May God bless each and every one and keep his smile and love close in times of sadness. He rests in a good place. God bless all. Debbie
