Mannie Morris Samuels

Mannie Morris Samuels, 84, of Russell Springs, Kentucky, died at his residence, surrounded by his family and friends, on December 19, 2023.

He was born in Salem County, New Jersey in 1939, to Manny and Ellen Samuels.

He attended Salem High School and served in the United States Air Force, Air Police, before making his career at Dupont Chambers Works in Deepwater, New Jersey. Mannie had a love of hunting and fishing in South Jersey, especially in the Delaware Bay. He was an avid Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies fan, and loved to tell stories, laugh and make others laugh. He had a huge personality and an even bigger heart.

As a young man and veteran, Mannie was accomplished in swimming and life saving skills, which led to him being credited with saving 3 mens' lives, 2 from drowning in the Atlantic Ocean and the other from bleeding to death after severing his femoral artery in an accident. He truly was a hero.

Mannie was preceded in death by his first wife, Judy Friant Samuels, his parents, Manny and Ellen Samuels, his sister, Linda Myers and a Step-Son, Ronnie Shimp, and is survived by his current wife, Geraldine Samuels, 2 brothers, Marvin Samuels (Susan), of Salem, New Jersey, and Thomas Samuels (Mary), of Hancocks Bridge, New Jersey, four children, Mannie Samuels (Linda), of Easton, Pennsylvania, Blayne Samuels, of Carney's Point, New Jersey, Tracy Irvin (Joseph), of Russell Springs, Kentucky, Brandy Samuels Pyla (John) of Russell Springs, Kentucky, three step-children, Danny Shimp (Julie) of Baltimore, Maryland, Sherry Dougherty (Wayne) of Pennsville, New Jersey, Helen Rodola (Michael), of Dayton, Tennessee and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

There will be a celebration of life at a later date.
