Dear Peggy Sue,
I know I only recently met your father Manny and you just a month or so ago. I am so very sorry about your loss. I enjoyed sitting on the porch with him after you left, and your father telling me with passion of how the seawall was constructed, right down to the details of where the materials came from and how parts of it where built on site. As I was leaving I took interest in the harpoons on the wall, the stainless steel kitchen counter top, and pictures of his family. Manny again took the time to tell me all about his artwork and family. A week or so later I called him to see how he was doing and thank him for his kindness. He said, "is that all you called for?", and I said, "yes, Mr. Oliveira....just to say hi." He thanked me for calling and we said our goodbyes. I'll never forget him and his smiling eyes, his hospitality and love for his home and family that he showed me. Sincerely, Carlo Pena, II
