William Woodring Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jun. 3, 2022.
William "Bill" D. Woodring passed away on Friday, June 3rd surrounded by his loved ones. He was 61 years old. Bill is survived by his two children Benjamin Woodring and Erin Woodring, as well as his two sisters Elizabeth Woodring and Stephanie Tosca Taylor. Two nephews, Christopher Reese, and Evan Taylor, and three nieces, Valerie Reese and Emily and Aubrey Taylor. A great-nephew Jalen Montes and two great-nieces Mckayla Reese and Isabella Ridgeway. He is also survived by the mother of his children Shannon Woodring. Bill was preceded in death by his parents Norman Woodring and Dolores Tosca (nee Neal). Dolores was remarried to Joseph Tosca, who has also preceded him in death. Bill's brother, Norman B. Woodring, and nephew, Thomas Reese, are also deceased. Bill was born in Los Angeles, California. His father Norman served in the Navy. The family accompanied their father as he was assigned to different locations around the world. As a result, the family spent 1 year in the state of Washington, and 1 year in Japan. When Bill was 8, the family moved back to Philadelphia in the Olney section. Bill was an avid concertgoer and proudly shared many stories of those glory days. In his later years, he bought a home in Yardley where he would remain for the remainder of his life. Before moving to Yardley, Bill spent many years as one of Wawa's top managers within the company, receiving notability from then CEO, Dick Wood. He worked as a manager at the locations in Richboro, Center City Philadelphia, Bristol Pike, and New Hope. Bill would go on to be a driver for Amoroso's Baking Company for many years until he became an independent driver delivering bread for them and owned his own company. He would deliver for many years in University City, and during his independent years, he delivered to parts of Northeast Philadelphia, including his home section of Olney. His career as a driver would last over 20 years. Bill was a hard worker and rarely ever took a day off, but he still found the time to attend concerts with his children, amongst other fatherly activities. His children meant everything to him. He always strived to do anything to provide the kids with the things they needed, and the tools needed to pursue their interests. Bill also always took the time to be friendly with everybody he encountered while working. He will truly be missed by everybody he encountered daily. Relatives and friends are invited to greet the family on Sunday, June 12, 2022, from 12:00 Noon until 2:00 PM, at which time there will be a time of sharing. All services will be held at the Swartz-Givnish Funeral Home, 323 E. Washington Ave., Newtown, PA 18940. His interment will be handled privately by the family. The family requests in lieu of wearing black, to wear a fun shirt. This can be a concert shirt, a band shirt, or a shirt with cartoon characters on it. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Bill's name may be made to either: 1. Adult Congenital Heart Association. Benjamin performs an annual 24-hour marathon benefitting this charit: https://www.extra-life.org/index.cfm?fuseaction=donordrive.participant&participantID=479441

Our dear, dear friend. You left us too soon. Gus and I have spent many many hours with you talking, advising each other about our/your problems. It seemed anytime you needed to talk you would come to see us. It didn't matter when where, we were here. You were there for us to vent and we for you to do the same. We know lately you were tired, but you still kept going. Your face lit up when you talked about Ben and Erin. They were your heart. You were always proud of them and when Ben graduated Temple you lit up with pride even more. My friend no more talks in person anyway cause you know my mouth I will still talk to you and keep you updated about us. No more you and Gus getting in silly troubles. No more late text messages about updating an order for the next day in which you will always respond with "for you guys anything ". We all love you. Gus , me (Maria) Chris, Despina, Katerina and Paraskevi. We will miss you sooo much. Behave up there. Get lots of rest. And just wait for us. Maria, Gus and the kids

You will be greatly missed by many, was nice reading your story, according to my mother Bill's dad's sister. Bill and I were best friends as cousins in the play pen whoever him and his family would visit when we all lived in California back in the 60's. I didn't see bill and his family along with his sister Betty and her family till a long time later as adults at the park in LA Jolla, California. Was a great day. Saw him again in 2018 at a woodring family reunion in Erie, Pa were I live now for the past 4 years. I told Bill about our play pen tinme that My mother told me, and we had a good laugh. Enjoyed our trip to Niagara falls the day after our family reunion. Made some great memories in those to get together. R.I.P Billy, give your dad a hug tell him it's from CJ sense he gave ne that nick name years ago. Love you and till we are all together again. ❤
