MARANATHA LOUGHEED Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 4, 2018.
LOUGHEED, MARANATHA EILEEN It is with the heaviest of hearts that we announce the passing of Maranatha Eileen Lougheed on July 20, 2018. Maran suffered a catastrophic intracranial hemorrhage just two days after delivering her third son at the Corning Hospital in New York. She passed peacefully, surrounded by her family, who adored her. Maran is survived by her loving husband, Cory Kilpatrick and her 3 beautiful boys, Brycen (age 4), Benton (age 2) and newborn baby Braedan. She also leaves behind a large immediate family, including her parents, Eileen and Brandon Lougheed; siblings Daryl (Natalie), Ronan (April), Charetina (David), Taylor (Vanessa) and Justan; as well as her mother and father-in-law, Rick and Karen Kilpatrick; and her nieces and nephews, Maeve, Bramwell, Harrison, Sullivan and Willa. Maran was an incredible woman, filled with such life and laughter. She was born on May 23, 1979 in Toronto, Ontario and immediately began leaving her indelible mark on the lives of everyone she encountered. Always ready with a quick smile or a witty joke she was loved by all those who were fortunate enough to know her. An amazing athlete and especially talented swimmer, her career took her from MAC and MDHS to the USA on a swim scholarship. She then pursued a career in medicine. Maran expertly cared for thousands of patients, and was well-respected and admired by her many colleagues as an outstanding physician and Chief of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Guthrie Corning Hospital. She dedicated her life to bringing babies into the world, saving the lives of young mothers and providing healthcare to women of all ages. She did this not only through medical intervention, but also by demonstrating exemplary compassion and a willingness to go above and beyond the call of duty. Maran's commitment to her work in women's health was second only to her dedication to her family. She worked tirelessly to create a happy home and a loving, magical childhood for her sons. Maran had big dreams for her little boys, wishing them to become the best versions of themselves - as she strove to do in her own life. Even on her final day, Maran continued to give. As per her wishes, her organs were donated to those in dire need, allowing her to save many lives despite losing her own. Maran was, simply put, an incredible person. Her passing has left a void that will never be filled. She touched each of our lives in such a special, caring way. We loved you every day, Maran and now we will miss you the same way. We wish you peace and light until we meet again. A visitation and tribute to her life will be held Sunday, August 12, 2018 at the Spring Lakes Golf Club, 4962 Stouffville Rd., Whitchurch-Stouffville, ON starting at 2 p.m. with a service at 3 p.m. All are invited to join in the sharing of stories and memories of Maran. In lieu of flowers, the family has kindly requested that donations be made to support Maran and Cory's sons via the following campaign: www.gofundme.com/lougheed Arrangements have been entrusted to the O'Neill Funeral Home. If so desired, online condolences can be made at www.oneillfuneral.ca

I still think of Dr. Lougheed often, she has not been forgotten. I think of all the prenatal visits when she built up my confidence and encouraged me. I only knew her as a patient, but I can imagine she was the best mom, wife, daughter, and friend. I miss her.

I am so heart broken for your family. Dr. Lougheed was one of my doctors for the birth of my three sons. In the little time I spent with her, you could see just how vibrant and caring she was. She had a knack for making people feel comfortable. I will always remember the part she played the day I became a mom. She was simply a wonderful person and I am so so sorry for your loss. She was a truly beautiful woman. God Bless her and her sons.

I am so saddened to hear about the passing of Dr. Eileen Lougheed's daughter Maran. My thoughts and prayers are with the Lougheed/Kilpatrick families and Maran's little boys. Although I never knew Maran, Eileen Lougheed has been my physician for about 20 years and from what I have read about Maran, she was a wonderful and caring person just like her mom. I was shocked and deeply saddened to read today of Maran Lougheed's passing. Her mom, Dr Eileen Lougheed, is my doctor in the city where Maran grew up (Markham Ontario) and where I was lucky enough to be one of Maran's elementary teachers. She was a delightful young student and from reading other messages know she grew into an outstanding mother and doctor. Words cannot express my deepest condolences for the family. A tremendous loss for everyone involved.

She was such a great person I am one her patience she did a hystrectomy for me in may and I had many complications that's was unforseen and she was so great she called me 3 to 4 times a week if she hadn't already seen me within a few days. She was so caring and she was so worried about me the whole time and got me the best specialist to take care of my complications but that didn't stop her from calling and checking on me. We became close and we talked at great lengths about everything we laughed and she couldn't believe how strong i was with all these complications. She cried with me when I wasn't so strong and hugged me to make me feel better. I seriously am sadden by the news I just found out today on Aug 3 and then I knew why I hadnt heard from her since her c-section and after my repair surgery. She had told me many times even while she was out on leave she was gonna call me to check in and so I asked how she was doing and got the bad news my heart breaks. Sorry for the loss she was an awesome person and I will truly miss her she wasn't just just my Dr she became a close friend.

There are no words to express how devastating this news was! I didn't know Maran as an adult except through her parents updates. I remember well the time we took her and Daryl to the circus and what a sweet young girl she was, fun and full of life. I pray that God will be a comfort at such an unthinkable
time. You are all in our prayers!

With the fondest love and prayers!

I was stunned to hear of Dr. Lougheed's passing. I only knew her through her work as my OB/GYN and she was AMAZING. Such a kind person, such a ray of sunshine to all who had the pleasure to know her. I remember her talking to me about her sons during one of my appointments (I have 2 boys, like she did at that time) - she was such a proud Momma!

My prayers are with her family Cherish your memories. Celebrate Her Life.

To say I was shocked and saddened to learn of Dr. Lougheed's passing is an understatement. I was a patient of hers for only 2 years but I knew the moment I met her that she was a special person. She always made you feel at ease. She went the extra mile, even calling me personally twice a day, during the last days of my pregnancy and delivery of our son on the 4th of July last year. My heart hurts for her family's inexplicable loss. She was truly one in a million.

I was one of Maranatha's patients. I've had many health challenges my whole life. I wont have kids because of these issues. Her obituary is the only one I've ever read that was 100% spot on. She was so caring kind and encouraging. Life is not right she had everything to live for I dont I should have been me. She will be mourned and missed immensely. She touched everyone she knew fly high M

Dr Lougheed is simply amazing! From the first moment I met her she made me feel like a friend, not a patient. That is a very rare quality. My deepest condolences go out to the Kilpatrick-Lougheed families.

To the Lougheed-Kilpatrick family:

When someone you love becomes a memory, the memory becomes a treasure. May the wonderful treasures fill your hearts with love and bring you peace. May the God of all comfort be with you during this difficult time. (Hosea 13:14) Just knowing there's a hope for the ones we loss in death can be so reassuring. May the memories of those days gone by, sustains you and warm your hearts in the days and years ahead.? My heart goes out to the entire family and friends.

I just heard about her passing today. I am a fairly new patient of hers (2 yrs) and I have never experienced such a lovely, kind, caring, gentle, understanding physician as her. They are hard to find. I'm afraid she leaves a void that will be near impossible to fill. I pray that God will fill the hole made in the family's hearts by her passing, with His peace and the memories of their life with her.

It is with a heavy heart that I write this message. Dr Lougheed certainly left a mark on my life. She was a kind, compassionate and caring person.
The passion for her profession and dedication to the welfare of her patients restored my faith in our healthcare system. I did not know her on a social level but it was evident to me that her many amazing traits and love extended across all boundaries.
I was blessed to have known her. May all her wishes for her family come true even in her absence. She will be missed. Heaven has definitely added a gem to their family.
