Marc Alan Fischer

Marc Alan Fischer, aged 54, of Merced, CA, passed away on August 9, 2024. He was born on January 18, 1970 in Redwood City, CA. Marc was devoted to his family, his faith, and his country. Marc served in the US Coast Guard from October 1989 through July 2000. He proudly served the Federal Bureau of Prisons for over 23 years and spent all of those years at USP Atwater. He joined the agency in January of 2001 as a Correctional Officer. In May 2004, he was promoted to a Correctional Systems Officer and in September 2009 he was promoted to Supervisory Correctional Systems Specialist. Marc was looking forward to retirement in the near future.

He leaves behind a loving family: his wife of 27 years, Tammy, his son Ryan, his daughter Cassidy, his sister Susan Lowe, along with her husband Ken and their children Austin, Branson and Connor, Mother-in Law and Father-in-Law Deana and Larry Grisham, Brothers-in-law Mark and Robert Grisham, along with their wives, Lisa and Cameron and many nieces and nephews. Marc was preceded in death by his parents, Brian and Elsa Fischer.

Marc's character was marked by loyalty and kindness, and his presence brought joy to those around him. His uncanny ability to identify any artist from an '80s song was legendary. Marc enjoyed spending time with his family and friends in the great outdoors, often camping and boating, and taking cherished walks with his loyal dog, Bosco.

The loss of Marc will be felt deeply by his family, friends, co-workers and all who had the pleasure of knowing him. His spirit, characterized by love and generosity, will continue to inspire those he has left behind.
