Marcel Frederick Dastugue III better known as “Butch” was born in New Orleans, Louisiana on November 14, 1939, and passed away in Houston, Texas on December 21, 2022.
Marcel is survived by his loving wife, Patricia “Pat” Dastugue, his son Michael Dastugue and his wife Cheryl, his daughter, Elizabeth “Betsy” Dastugue Wendler and her husband Allen as well as grandchildren: Jack and Bailee Dastugue, Ethan Dastugue and Caroline Dastugue, Kyle Wendler, Meghan (Wendler) and Preston Browne, and Katie Wendler,
He is preceded in death by his son, Marc F. Dastugue, and his parents, Marcel F. Dastugue, Jr. and Nell Rose Dastugue and sister Jo Ann Dastugue.
Marcel grew up in New Orleans and excelled in academics and sports. He graduated from Jesuit High School in 1957 and played baseball and football at Georgia Tech where he graduated in 1961. From 1961-1965, he served his country in the United States Marine Corp in a variety of assignments and locations as a communications officer and was honorably discharged as a Captain. During this time, he met Pat and they were married at the Marine base at Quantico in 1963. After his military service, he joined Shell Oil where he had a successful 36 year career in a variety of leadership roles, primarily in finance. His retirement years were spent with family and friends, enjoying the outdoors, traveling and playing golf (and he had 2 hole in ones!).
He is loved by his family and friends for his kindness, integrity, enthusiasm, and resilience.
A Memorial Mass for Marcel will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, January 6, 2023 at Prince of Peace Catholic Church located at 19222 Tomball Parkway, Houston, TX 77070. Following the Mass, a burial at Klein Memorial Park 9714 FM 2920 Tomball, TX and a reception following for family and friends at Lupe Tortilla 22465 SH 249 Houston, Tx.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Parkinson’s Foundation.
