I just learned the passing of Professor LeBlanc. Marcel and I had a pleasant exchange regarding the history of the peak effect in superconductors 23 years ago. His pioneering contribution to our field of study was noted. R.I.P.

I am very sad to see this news. Dr. LeBlanc first taught me in my first year at the University of Ottawa and it was his inspiration that changed my course of study to physics and ultimately my direction in life. I now lecture at a University also and wanted to get in touch to let him know how much influence he has had on my life and how appreciative I am. I still have those lecture notes some 25 years on. I am sorry that I did not say this sooner now and send my heartfelt sympathies to his friends and family.

I was a graduate student when Marcel was a research associate in the physics department at Stanford with responsibilities including the teaching and guidance of students there. I remember with great appreciation the gentle but effective way in which he would explain to students some of the more subtle aspects of low temperature physics.

I'm very sad to read that Dr. Leblanc has passed away.
He was a great mentor and educator to me and to his other graduate students over so many years. What I remember most about Dr. Leblanc was his patience, his generosity, his empathy toward others truly an exceptional person. I often thought about him over the years and I truly regret not keeping in touch with him. My heartfelt condolences to his family and friends.

Dear Lilian and other family members, I have just now heard of your great loss. Marcel was a very kind and helpful person, and very productive and cooperative researcher and excellent supervisor who trained at least 20 graduate students.I have known him since 1990 when I started to study as a Ph. D. student at the University of Ottawa. I always appreciated him. I will miss him. I would like to let you know that my thoughts are with you and your family during these difficult times.

Dear Lilian, I have just now heard of your great loss. I am one of the privileged that was part of the Round Table that Marcel, so generously instituted. He was greatly appreciated by all of us and we will miss him. I also want to let you know that our thoughts are with you and your family during these difficult times. It never seems fair, but death is often the greatest relief for the suffering. You are in our prayers. Pierre Boulet

Gaby and family, My fondest memory of your father is when he would take us all tobogganing. He would shoot down Greens creek hill on his own toboggan like any one of us kids. He didn't wait in the parking lot like other parents. It was clear that it was true joy for him to see his kids and their friends laughing and having a great time. You were truly blessed to have such a great father, and in turn I benefited from being your friend.

Marcel a toujours été une inspiration pour moi dès mon arrivée comme nouveau professeur de physique ici à l'université d'Ottawa. Son enthousiasme était très contagieux.
