Marcella J. (Kass) Ambrosy, 96, of Dubuque, Iowa, formerly of St. Donatus, Iowa, died Friday, September 14, 2007, at home. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, September, 17, 2007, at St. Joseph The Worker Catholic Church Dubuque, with Rev. Mark Ressler officiating. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Dubuque, Friends may call from 2 to 8 Sunday at Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory 2595 Rockdale Rd. Dubuque, where there will be a wake service at 6 p.m.
Marcella was born December 26, 1910, in Stamford, Neb., the daughter of Charles and Mary Ann (Thoma) Kass. She married Ervin Ambrosy September 5, 1934, at St. Donatus Church and together they farmed in the St. Donatus area for 48 years until moving to Dubuque. He preceded her in death April 1, 1987.
Surviving are three sons, Lelan (Janann), of Sherrill, Iowa, Ronald (Doris), of Dubuque, and Vernon (Rose Marie), of Otter Creek, Iowa; daughter, Vernon's twin sister, Mrs. Virgil (Verla) Weimerskirch, of La Motte, Iowa, and Mrs. Cletus (Celine) Loeffelholz, of Eldridge, Iowa; and 30 grandchildren; and 66 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by three sisters, Rosa Barth, of Dubuque, Mathilda Phillips, of Jesup, Iowa, and Magdalen Kohler, of Waterloo, Iowa; and three brothers, Arthur Kass, of Dunkerton, Iowa, Arnold Kass, of Jesup, and Raymond (Dorothy) Kass, of Waterloo, as well as sister-in-law, Marie Kass.
She was preceded in death by a grandson, Jimmy Weimerskirch, granddaughter, Tara Weimerskirch, a great-grandson, Darwin Weimerskirch, and sisters, Armella Sadler, Philomena Phillips, and a brother, Alfred Kass.
