Marcella Lourd, born on February 17, 1926, in Wonewoc, WI, died on February 20, 2025, after living for over 60 years in Sherman, CT.

Marcella worked as a nurse, having graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from Marquette University in 1948. She later moved to New York City, where she met her husband, Seymour, at a dance. She then dedicated her time to assisting Seymour in his business. She and Seymour were passionate about home renovations, collecting antiques, playing competitive bridge, and raising their two children. They fell in love with Sherman and spent many years here.

Marcella is survived by her son, Paul Lourd, her daughter-in-law Karen, and her grandchildren, Katherine Dectis, Emily Roll, David Lourd, and Erica Lourd. She was predeceased by her daughter, Joan Roll, and son-in-law, Tim Roll. Marcella was also predeceased by her parents, Charles and Ella Hansen, as well as her siblings, Myrtle, Hazel, Gertrude, Robert, and Donald.

Marcella had a lasting impact on those who knew her. She actively contributed to her community by volunteering for 35 years at a New York hospital, running a ticket program for hospital employees. Marcella was also an early member of the Sherman Jewish Community Center.

Marcella Lourd will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all those whose lives she touched throughout her remarkable journey. Her memory will forever be cherished, and her legacy of kindness and dedication will live on in the hearts of those who knew her.

The family will be holding a Celebration of Life at Marcella's home at 6 Brinsmade Lane in Sherman on July 26 from 1-5. All who knew Marcella are invited to attend.
