Nanny, I did not consider the possibility of losing you this year nor did I consider the potential of Poppy leaving before you. However, when his death occurred four months ago something told me you wouldn't be long after. How can the heart handle such a profound loss of its other half? In a way, I am thankful you are not suffering without Poppy. I am thankful there was not years of decline and the familial pain of watching a loved one suffer. You were spared such cruelty. The last time I saw you I was 18. We spoke regularly on the phone but I'd be lying if I said I wouldn't prefer being in the same room as you instead. I wish I could hug you one more time. I love you, Nanny. That was the last thing I said to you a couple weeks ago. I love you.
