So sorry to hear of his passing. I have been traveling for some time and only found out. I met him at local farmers market where he shared a small space in his tent for my little table until I could get my own tent. He had a terrific charisma about him and had such an interesting life he told me about. Even after I left doing the markets it was nice to occassionally be able to visit with he and Heather. I was sorry to hear of her passing too. He will always be a cherished memory.

When I first met my future father-in-law, he asked if I was Italian. I told him I had an Italian Grandfather, and he seemed pleased to hear that. He was nice to me, but I felt very intimidated by the man, and I think he was pleased by that as well. We shared a lot of life in 35 years, and I've always had a great deal of respect for his optimistic way of looking at his life and his love for friends and family. He also taught me a whole new respect for high-quality Italian food.
