MORRIS, MARCENE JOHNSON - age 86 of Athens, died Wednesday morning at Athens Regional Medical Center. She was a native of Hamilton County and was a daughter of the late James R. and Jessie Lawson Johnson. She was also preceded in death by: her husband, A. C. Morris, December 30, 1999; sisters and brothers-in-law, Bill and Mary Jean Sprinkle, Helen and J. R. Curtis; brother, James L. Johnson; nephews, Billy Sprinkle and Mike Curtis. She retired from South Central Bell after 35 years of service. She was a member of Athens Christian Church and a member of Telephone Pioneers of America. She is survived by: her son and daughter-in-law, Eddie and Faye Morris, Athens; granddaughter and spouse, Sandy and Chris Sisk, Charlotte, NC; grandson and spouse, Rusty and Mary Emily Morris, Knoxville; great grandchildren, Mary Handley Morris, Caroline Morris, and Loren Clair Sisk; one sister in-law Veda Corcoran, Athens; one brother in-law, Newell Morris, Oak Ridge; niece and spouse, Ann and Billy Schultz, Athens; nephew and spouse, Charles and Joyce Morris, Harlan, KY. A graveside service will be conducted at Cedar Grove Cemetery 10:00 a.m. Friday with Rev. Mike Hubble and Rev. Jason Gattis officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Jerry Smith Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be: Carl Richeson, Troy Giles, Bob Littleton, Bobby Kyker, H. L. Patterson, Warren Hall and Bill Schultz. The family suggests memorials be made to: Athens Christian Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 1405, Athens, TN 37303.
