I think I grew to know Nick better by working on this grand 3 volume comic that we hoped to put out. For the past 2 years I would talk with him pretty much every day and slowly grew to know him as a very caring, compassionate, and determined individual. I think he just wanted his stories to be out there, comforting kids that were like the kid he was, growing up. And so it's all the more tragic that he wouldn't be able to see the book get published. I'm happy at least that he saw all the pages drawn and half colored and seemed to be loving everything about it.
I feel like working with him has made me a better person, and if only he could have stuck around longer to affect more people.

My wife and I send our condolences. We only met Marcus once. About a month ago he came over to our house in San DIego for breakfast with our son Josh and his wife Kat. We were very impressed with him and are so glad we got to meet him. His death is a very real loss.

I remember when we first met few years back: we got to know each other over a game of Bucky O'Hare at a friend's house. You told me the game we were playing was the final episode of the series. I had such a blast meeting you then and it was good to see you again this past July. I was really looking forward to seeing you at Comic-Con next year.
