WILEY, Mrs. Marene-age 78, of Flint, passed away Sunday, January 23, 2022 at her residence. Funeral services will be held 11:00am Thursday, February 3, 2022 with a 10:30am family hour at Sheldon T Banks Funeral Chapel, 3021 S Dort Highway, Flint, MI 48507. Calling hours are 1:00pm - 6:00pm Wednesday, February 2, 2022 at Sheldon T. Banks Funeral Chapel. The final resting place for Mrs. Wiley will be Flint Memorial Park Cemetery, Mt. Morris, MI.
Ms. Marene “Duck” Wiley was born April 27, 1943 in Arkadelphia, Arkansas, the daughter of Icy Mae and Charlie Wiley.
She was a resident of Mt. Morris, Michigan and a member of New Jerusalem Full Gospel Baptist Church since 1972, and served on the Mission Society. She graduated from Peak High School in Arkadelphia, Arkansas. After relocating to Michigan, she gained employment with Buick City, a division of General Motors and retired in 1990 after several years of service. She was a member of UAW Local 599. She loved attending church, shopping, gardening, playing the lottery and traveling. “Duck” as she was lovingly called was a great mother who loved and took great care of her family especially her grandchildren. She had a real love for her Bates Road family where she resided since 1967.
Marene “Duck” Wiley leaves to cherish her memory: 2 daughters, Collier (Christopher) Hill of Flint, MI and Le’Kiva Hill of Sandy Springs, GA; goddaughter, Jolena Sims of Flint, MI; 2 stepsons, Leavon (Carol) Hill of AZ and Leon Hill of CA; 8 grandchildren, Jasmin Thornton, DeShon Allen, BreShondra Henry, Kevondra Hill, Kalimah, Khadeejah, Khaalidah and Kasaam Wali; 4 great grandchildren, C’Mareyah Polk, Kaylah and Kyah Wali, ZaCarri Polk; brother, Calvin (Lavern) Wiley of TX; 3 sisters, Corrine Perry of Arkadelphia, AR, Pearl Wiley of IL and Gwen Wheatley of TX; son-in-law, Kevin Lane of Flint, MI; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins including special cousin, Rose of Flint, MI; several friends, including Sis. Allen, Gwen Henley and Clara Price.
Marene “Duck” Wiley was preceded in death by her husband, Levinest Hill; daughter, Thelia Evette Lane; great grandson, Amir Duncan; parents, Icy Mae and Charlie Wiley; sister, Mary Ellen Hale; brother, Charlie Wiley; son-in-law, Joe Sims; and brother-in-law, Bill Perry.
The family would like to express special thanks to McLaren Hospice, her daughter Collier Hill, and granddaughter BreShondra Henry for the special care given to our beloved “Duck.”
