METHUEN — Margaret Dolores DiBenedetto, 83, of Methuen, formerly of Lawrence, passed away Sunday, Oct. 19, 2008 at the Massachusetts General Hospital, surrounded by her children and friends that loved her.
She was born in Lawrence on Dec. 7, 1924 to Giovanni and Maria (DeMarco) DiBenedetto of Italy. She was one of seven children. Margaret was educated in the Lawrence Public Schools and graduated from Lawrence General Hospital School of Nursing in 1946.

During the decades that followed, she continued her career in Geriatrics as Director of Nurses in select nursing facilities here in the Merrimack Valley. Margaret forged a professional reputation for safeguarding patient dignity and providing exceptional care. She retired from nursing in 1992.
Throughout her life, Margaret was a caring and giving person, her kindness and compassion were unconditional. She cared for members of her extended family while working and raising her two children. Margaret built a warm and loving home for her family, and she touched the hearts of all who knew her.
Margaret is survived by her children, Christina Maria DiBenedetto and Robert John DiBenedetto, both of Methuen.

I'm sad to hear Margaret left us. I played bingo with her almost every night in Salem years ago. She made us all laugh. She always talked about her kids and Bear. She will be missed. Take care and God Bless.

To Chrissy and Bobby - I haven't seen her in years but she was my favorite bingo partner. She made me laugh! I did a double-take when I saw the notice. It's hard to think of Margaret as gone. I hope she's met her beloved Bear. And I hope you both are doing OK.

To Chrissy and Bobby
I am deeply saddened.
Your Mom was a fixture in my childhood - the auntie who knew the most about what ailed you, the one who introduced me to Chinese food and the ball dropping on New Year's Eve and her never-dying Christmas tree with Valentine decorations on it!
She was also the one I understood - as I grew older - to be hurt at life's complexities in an imperfect world.
She has always remained with me in heart and spirit and she always will.
Trina
