Margaret Anne Duffy

Margaret Anne Duffy, of Rockville, died peacefully at her home on Sunday, September 1.

Margaret was born in Toronto, Ontario, on January 14, 1953, the daughter of the late Thomas and Agnes (Clairmont) Duffy. She graduated from Mimico High School and later became a flight attendant for United Airlines, a job she held for 46 years until retiring in 2022. Margaret loved her job, which gave her the opportunity to explore the world. She was beloved by her colleagues for her kindness, energy and humor.

Margaret met her husband on a tour of the Soviet Union in 1972, and they lived in California before settling in Connecticut in the 1980s. Even after living in the US for so long, she remained fiercely proud of being Canadian. She loved reading mystery novels, playing piano, walking, cycling, and acting in community theater productions. No one was ever bored around Margaret-she had an incredibly sharp wit and could come up with a joke at a moment's notice.

Margaret is survived by her husband, Joseph Michalewicz; daughter, Claire Michalewicz (Jarrett Sampson) of Halifax, Nova Scotia; and sisters Marie Kapasky of Toronto, Theresa Chun (John) of Hawaii and Helen Hennings (Fred) of Toronto. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers William, Thomas and Martin Duffy, all of Toronto.

At Margaret's request, there will be no funeral or memorial service. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory can be made to Visiting Nurse and Health Services of Connecticut, 8 Keynote Drive, Vernon CT 06066.
