Margaret C. Fischer

Mankato resident, Margaret C. Fischer, 87, died Tuesday, April 28, 2009 at Immanuel-St. Joseph's Hospital in Mankato. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, May 1, 2009, at Church of St. Paul in Nicollet. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery in Mankato. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday at Woodland Hills Funeral Home in Mankato with a 6 p.m. rosary and will continue at the church 1 hour prior to the service.Margaret was born May 8, 1921, in Walnut Grove, MN, to Isadore and Clara (Coopman) Veroeven. She attended country school in Eagle Lake and graduated from Good Counsel High School in Mankato. On August 31, 1943, she married Harold F.G. Fischer in Mankato. The couple made their home in Eagle Lake. She loved taking care of her family, especially her grandchildren. In her leisure time she enjoyed fishing, gardening, sewing, playing cards, baking, watching sports, crocheting and just visiting with friends.She is survived by 1 daughter, Rosemary Mathiowetz of Sleepy Eye and (Denis J. Mathiowetz of New Ulm); 5 sons, Robert Fischer of Good Thunder, LeRoy Fischer of North Mankato, Francis (Sandy) Fischer of Mankato, Richard (Pam) Fischer of Elysian, Harold I. (Mary) Fischer of Nicollet; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; 2 brothers, Raymond (Donna) Veroeven of North Mankato, David (Marlene) Veroeven of Rapidan; sister-in-law, Betty Fischer of Mankato.She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harold; brothers, Francis, Ed and twin brothers in infancy; sister, Lucille.
