Margaret Hogger Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 19, 2016.
Margie Hogger (nee Kelso)
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Margie due to lung disease. Her journey ended peacefully on March 19, 2016 at the age of 71 at Southlake Regional Health Centre in Newmarket. Margie was cherished and will be deeply missed by her husband Bruce, daughter Kristy, and son-in-law Chris. Margie handled her diagnosis like she handled life - head on and with amazing strength, positivity, and gusto. She was born on June 9, 1944 in Windsor and often told stories of the fun and adventures she experienced while growing up in Windsor and Point Pelee, and of her time at Patterson Collegiate. Joyful years were spent in Thornhill and Unionville with family and many wonderful friends and neighbours. Throughout her working life, the positions she held were diverse but she was always appreciated for her skills and intelligence. Working with the Big Sisters of York Region was a highlight of her career. In her later years, she found peace in the tranquil village of Bayfield and within the community at the Knox Presbyterian Church. Margie was a master in the kitchen and the life of the party at the many gatherings she hosted. Her open, welcoming nature brought people together. She is described by friends as outgoing, fun-loving, and a leader. Margie will also be remembered for her quick-witted humour, gift of the gab, and her vibrant spirit. Margie is predeceased by her mother Flora, father Ernest, and brother Ernie and is survived by her sisters Flo (Bob) and Mary. She left a lasting impression on her nieces and nephews. Friends and family are invited to join in a celebration of Margie's life to be held on April 16th from 1-4pm at St. Andrew's Valley Golf Course, 4 Pinnacle Trail, Aurora. For those who wish, donations can be made to Friends of Point Pelee or Knox Presbyterian Church in Bayfield.

Dear Kristy and Family, Please accept my deepest condolences on the passing of Margie. I first met her in grade eight but my fondest memories are the times we spent together at Patterson------the beach parties, the shot-up thru Mr. Kelso's company car, her first spaghetti dinner and which ended up drained into the kitchen sink and Sweet 16 PJ parties. My European parents were rather strict about girls doing certain things but it was always O.K. if I said I was going with Margie. Kristy your mum had a wonderful voice and often sang at assemblies at Patterson . Your eulogy to Margie is beautiful. She was all that and so much more. The pictures captures her essence and that is how I shall always remember her. Kristy , Margie was so proud of you and loved you so very much. Although her body has passed on, know that she will live in your memories forever. Margie, my dear friend you fought the good fight . Now rest in peace in the arms of angels. Erika

Dear Kristy and family: We were so saddened to hear of Margie's passing. It was so nice to hear how special Knox Bayfield was to Margie because we felt the same about her. Margie was always willing to help out at church functions and she was a great "idea" lady. We will always hold special memories of her when she lived in Bayfield. We send our deepest sympathy to her family and will keep you in our thoughts and prayers as you mourn her loss.
Prayerfully, Brenda McLean, Knox Presbyterian Church, Bayfield

I too was Marjie's roommate at the Joinville Apartments in WIndsor in 1968. Such good times and memories. I was in her wedding party. Time and distance separated us and we lost track of each other until Grace Pollard recently put us in touch again. I was overjoyed to have some great telephone conversations and get caught up on all those years. She still made me laugh as only she could with her sharp wit and wonderful sense of humor. She was one of a kind and will be sadly missed.

I feel honored to have known Margie albeit for only a short time...
I learned that she had an incredible intensity for life, love, and family.
I experienced Margie's infectious laughter, saw her beauty shine through her azure eyes and had the privilege of hearing her melodious voice...she loved those old 'oldies'!!!
Her memories will be cherished.
My sincerest condolences to you Kristy, Chris and Bruce

Dear Margie,
Your fight is over dear friend. Now rest peacefully with the angels.

To Bruce, Kristy and Chris,
We cannot feel life's losses without first feeling the blessings of its fullness. When the Lord calls our loved ones home, He leaves us the gift of memories of the love and friendship we shared.
With deepest sympathy,
Kathy (Davidson) and Tom Zotos

I was Margie's roommate at The Seaway Towers for 3 years prior to my marriage. So many fun memories...a Route 66 California trip...Europe with her & Bruce...Point Pelee cottage...Abar's. What I recall most is laughter, singing, adventure & her kindness & loyalty. She was a good friend &, I know, a wonderful mother.

i knew Margie when she lived in beautifull Bayfield. She always had our little Knox church in her heart. We missed her bubbly
laugh and her many random acts of kindness.I am saddened by her passing but I recognized her failing health and I am sure she no longer is suffering.

Dear Bruce, Christy and Chris, our hearts and thoughts are with you at this time of sorrow.
I have fond memories of fun and happy times growing up with my Aunt Margie's involvement in our lives, at home growing up in Windsor at Point Pelee and at the many family functions hosted by Margie and Bruce in TO. The good times shall always be cherished. Sincere condolences.
