Margaret M. "Maggie" (Medved) Lucas, 87, of Norvelt, passed away peacefully Saturday, Jan. 4, 2014, in Excela Health Westmoreland Hospital, Greensburg. Born May 30, 1926, in Greensburg, she was a daughter of the late George and Barbara (Cindrich) Medved. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Emil J. Lucas, Dec. 29, 1999; and the following siblings, Clara Lesick, Mary Topoli, Eva Buttner, Ann Kireta, Katherine Kalata, Agnes Silic and Andrew and Steven John Medved. Maggie was a member of St. Florian Catholic Church, United. She loved baking and cooking for her family and friends, was an avid polka and ballroom dancer, and loved flowers. Maggie was the loving mother to two sons, Jerry Lucas, and his wife, Connie, of Greensburg, and Tom Lucas and his wife, Deb (Yothers), of Brinkerton; loving and devoted "Bubba" to her five grandchildren, Erica, Ian and wife Brittaney, Sean and his wife Kelly, Zach and Josh Lucas; loving great-grandmother to four great-grandchildren, Levi, Margaret, Gavin and Abigail Lucas. Also surviving are four sisters, Lucy Yurich, of Youngstown, Ohio, Helen Rose, of Greensburg, Joan (Leo) Letterine, of North Huntington, and Dorothy Capasso, of Greensburg; and several nieces and nephews. Family and friends were received from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, and 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday in JAY A. HOFFER FUNERAL HOME, 2245 Mt. Pleasant Road, Norvelt, PA 15674, where Transfer Prayers were offered at 9 a.m. Tuesday, followed by her funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Florian Catholic Church, with the Rev. John A. Sedlak as celebrant. Interment followed in Westmoreland County Memorial Park, Hempfield Township. A Vigil Service was held at 3 p.m. Monday in the funeral home.
