Margaret Mann Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Dec. 10 to Dec. 12, 2005.
MANN- Margaret Agnes Mann died December 8, 2005 at Regina after a short illness. She was the daughter of Maud E. (Morton) and David M. Mann. She was predeceased by her sister Mabel Beattie. She is survived by her sister Jean McKillop, brother Stuart (Yvonne) Mann and brotherin-law Frank Beattie all of Regina, and nieces and nephews: Marian (Trevor) Powell, Regina; Heather (Warren)Whittaker and their children Erin and Amy, Winnipeg; John Beattie, Lumsden; Frazer (Hitomi) Mann, Regina; Murray Mann and his daughter Chaylene, Regina; Kim (Rod) Hladun and their children Ashley and Jaymie, Winnipeg; Maureen (Rick) Mann, and numerous cousins and friends. Born October 27, 1915 in Regina, Margie was educated at Regina schools and spent her work life in Regina. She was employed at Eaton's, The Industries, and the Saskatchewan Power Corporation where she rose to the position of Secretary to the General Manager, from which she retired in 1980. Her extended family was always important to her, and in particular she provided devoted care to her mother at home during her last years and supported her many aunts. Margie typed the manuscripts for the books written by her aunt, Anne McMillan, a teacher and local author of Prince of the Plains and Mountie Patrol, stories based on early days in Saskatchewan. A life-long church member, she attended Knox Church and Knox Metropolitan Church in Regina, participating in many aspects of church life and ministry. In retirement she enjoyed traveling to South East Asia and Europe, with particular pleasure to Scotland, and along the Inside Passage to Alaska. Margie was recognized for her achievement of 60 years of service and membership in Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. She was an enthusiastic member who held every office, convened committees and chaired the convention in Regina in 1968. The friendships she developed at sorority were a cornerstone of her life. She was a long-time Saskatchewan Roughrider fan as well as a supporter of the arts, attending the Regina Symphony for over 50 years and more recently the Globe Theatre. She lived in her own home until October of this year, a house built by her father and home to three generations of her family, when her health dictated a move to assisted care. Margie's family would like to thank the staff and residents of the Wascana Heights Personal Care home for their care during those last months. At Margie's request there will be no funeral. Flowers are gratefully declined. Friends so wishing may make donations, in memoriam, to the University of Regina, M. E. Mann Award (named for her mother), Conservatory of Performing Arts, Regina, S4S 0A2. Private family interment at Regina Cemetery.
