Margaret Ellen Rager

Margaret Ellen Rager, 83, of Henderson, passed away at home on 16 July 2025 at 4:51 am surrounded by her family. A beloved phenomenal woman known as Margie or "Nana" was a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and pillar of her community. Margie lived a life devoted to healing, helping, and unconditional love for others.

Born August 26, 1941, Margaret served as a nurse for 53 years, caring for generations of families with dedication and compassion. Margie's kindness reached far beyond her profession. Known for her open heart and open home, she selflessly cared for many in the Henderson community - including the homeless and those battling addiction. Margie embraced anyone who found themselves lost, alone, or in need. Margie never judged nor turned anyone away.

Margie found joy in raising her family and especially her grandchildren, helping others, being a nurse and she carried herself with grace, humility, and a touch of humor that brought light to every room.

Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, George Gaddis of Harrodsburgh, KY and Frances McCombs of Hot Springs, Arkansas.

Margaret is survived by her daughter, Kellee Rager Martin of Henderson, and her son, Bart Rager of Henderson; her granddaughter, Shelby Frey; her grandson, Preston Rager of Lexington, KY; and her two great-grandchildren, Avree Townsend and Jaxsper Ralph, all of Henderson, and her niece Heather Pruitt Knight of Henderson, KY.

Margie will be remembered for her unconditional love, her strength, and her unwavering belief in the goodness of others. Known to all simply as "Nana," she was a guiding light and a constant source of comfort and a safe place to those around her. Margie's door was always open, her table always full, and her heart always kind.

Margaret "Nana" Rager will be deeply missed, but her love lives on in all of us.
