Margaret REA Obituary

Published by Dominion Post on May 28, 2022.
REA,
Margaret (nee Nicholson):
Peacefully left us on 25 May 2022, surrounded by her family, aged 87. Beloved wife of the late Peter Rea. Very special and loved sister of Tess and the late Patricia. Sister-in-law of Dave Mather and loved aunt of Adam and Matt Lewer. Loved by Iain, David, and Neill Rea and their children. Special 'Mum' to the Watts and Reuth families, and her beloved poodle Nikki. Dearly loved daughter of Jack and Mary, and Pat Nicholson. Marg's influence on her family and on many people around the world is immeasurable. She was dearly loved, because she loved so well. In lieu of flowers, donations to The Cancer Society would be appreciated. Messages to the family may be left in Margaret's tribute book at www.tributes.co.nz. The service will be livestreamed with access via the same web address. A service to celebrate Margaret's life will be held at The Wilson Funeral Home Chapel, 375 Adelaide Road, Newtown, Wellington, on Wednesday 1 June 2022 at 2.00pm, followed by a private cremation.

Thinking of you all today - I know Margaret was very loved and carried such a fun spirit of life, which really impacted everyone she met. We only had the privilege of meeting her a few times, but felt like we had known her for a lifetime - she truly did know how to connect with people and make them feel loved and valued.

Tess, Adam and Matt, you are in our hearts especially today and over these next days, weeks and months - Marg will be greatly missed by you, I know!

Much, much love, many prayers and thoughts being sent your way today xxx

Truly sorry to hear of the loss of such a wonderful lady. "Those we love remain with us for love itself lives on, and cherished memories never fade because a loved one´s gone. Those we love can never be more that a thought apart. For as long there is a memory, they´ll live on in our hearts"

In loving memory of Margaret. I will miss your happy face that brightened a room when you smiled, and your infectious laugh. Thanks for the many memories I will hold dear and the wonderful connections you made for me. You will always be in my heart. Rest in peace.

"In a world where you can be anything, be kind" ..... not my words, but they could have been spoken by Margaret because she was kind and loving. I had hoped to see her later this year, sadly it was not meant to be. I will enjoy hearing more about her though, when l visit Tess and my sister Ness. Sent with much love to you all and thank you for Margaret's time here, a beam of beautiful light in this world. Love Louise x

Margie Nic - you always said you knew me when I was morning sickness. You and my mum, Bett, were best friends as young maternity nurses in the 50s. You delivered us - Karen, Susan, Peter and Diane, and you were godmother to me and Suzie.
You were a ray of sunshine in our lives and we adored you.

Over 50 years ago when Rusty started courting me you said to Bett, "What do we have here?" Then, for the past 30-odd years you and Rusty have sent the same Valentine´s card back and forth to each other. It´s got coffee stains and the corners are furry now but the love was always clear and strong.

You´ve been a dear friend, surrogate mum, and a special part of our extended family. Our kids, their partners and our grandchildren loved you because you were always interested in them. You loved our friends . . . and we´ll never forget your funny, recent Gordon Ramsay moment (f@#$%n tarragon!)

Love you long time, Margie Nic. So many good memories.
