MARGARET SARGINSON Obituary

MARGARET SARGINSON
Our mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Harriet Margaret Sarginson, passed away on Monday, April 2, 2012 at Victoria Hospital in Prince Albert. She was born in a one room log house near Paddockwood, SK on January 1, 1927. Melba School, a shack two long, cold miles from the homestead, was her daily destination. Margaret knew Bernard, her husband, all her life, but they were married after he came back from the war. While Bernard worked as a boiler man at the penitentiary, the family grew to five children. Mom was most proud of her badge secretary work for the Girl Guides and her church work with Holy Trinity Ladies Auxiliary. An extended stint at the Coronet Hotel provided extras for the household. After the kids grew up, life relaxed into yearly camping trips to the coast. She loved babysitting for her good friends Charlie & Irene Dent. Bernard died of cancer in 1991 and Margaret was confined to the crumbling house on 12th street until the family convinced her to move to Northcote Senior's Center. Margaret changed from a virtual recluse into the belle of the ball. Dressing up as Cleopatra for Halloween was only one of the escapades with her good friend Charlie Squires. St David's Church and Karen Hindle rounded out her extensive social calendar. The visiting that went on at our Perry Reunions made her eyes gleam with joy. Margaret openly wished to be healthy enough to make it to the reunion in BC next year. Most of all, Mom was the happy, welcoming center of our extended family and we knew she was proud of us. She is the role model of how a senior should conduct their life. We love you. Margaret is survived by her children Linda (Fred) Smith, Kathy Medernach, Wayne (Virginia) Sarginson, Bev (Roy) Schuetz; her grandchildren Sheila (Sherma Zacharias) Smith, Sharon (Kevin) Cholowsky, Trudy (Dave) Waselyshen, Carrie (Doug) Mills, Tanya (Wade) Fehr, Stephanie (Brad Wilson) Sarginson, Tracy Sarginson, Sheri (Kenny) Snyder, Camille (Jared) Cousins, Stacie (Dwayne Davidson) Huston; her great- grandchildren Natasha and Dmitri Cholowsky, Sydney Zacharias, Justin and Sarah Waselyshen, Chord and Loch Fehr, Cory Painchaud, Sarah MacKinnon, Christina, Nikita and Michael Snyder, Kinslee, Tenley and Draxton Cousins, Ryan Huston; her sister Lillian Johnston; her brother Doug (Helen) Perry; her brother-in-law John Mackenzie. She was predeceased by her husband Bernard Sarginson; her son Brian Sarginson; her son-in-law Ed Allan; her father Ernest Perry; her mother Ella May Perry; her sister Florence Wilkes (Dean); her brothers-in-law Ezra Dean, Conrad Wilkes and Jim Johnston and her sister Elsie Mackenzie. Celebration of Margaret's life will be held at St. David Anglican Church 500- 24th Street East in Prince Albert SK on Tuesday May 8th at 10:00 a.m. Reverend Norbert Haukenfrers will officate. Interment of cremated remains will take place in the Garden of Devotion, Prince Albert Memorial Gardens. Anyone wishing to place memorial gifts may do so to St. David Anglican Church. Family and friends may send email condolences to www.riverparkfuneral.ca . Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care of Don M. Moriarty, Funeral Director, RIVER PARK MEMORIAL CHAPEL (306) 764-2727

Grace and I really enjoyed our visits with Aunt Margaret in Prince Albert and unknowingly our last visit at Christopher Lake. We will always remember Aunt Margaret. She was a great person and she is now with our family who have passed into the next life. God Bless all of you.
