Margo S. Ruiz-Jones, age 61, of Battle Creek passed away at home on Sunday morning, November 27, 2022, with her loving family at her side. She was born on January 1, 1961, to Albert Jones & Glory Ruiz-Jones. She grew up and attended schools in Arima, Trinidad. Margo then got married and gave birth to her first child, Fanon. She moved to New York in 1993 to start a new life working for American Airlines. Margo was a dedicated employee, and received many awards for customer service, going above and beyond, and formed many lasting bonds with her colleagues and customers. Years later, she was blessed by the birth of her daughter, Jordan, and moved to Battle Creek, Michigan, where she became heavily involved in volunteering with her daughter's schools and the community.
Margo is survived by her mother, Glory Ruiz-Jones of Trinidad; her son, Fanon (Kristen) Dottin of Scottsdale, AZ; her daughter, Jordan RuizJones-Carter of Battle Creek; her grandsons, Jalen & Brandon Dottin; her siblings, Sandra Corker, Anthony Ruiz-Jones, Marlissa DeGannes, and Michelle Ruiz-Jones; nieces & nephews, Sade Chessidy, Cody DeGannes, and Vanessa Cato; brothers-in-law, Richard Corker, Derek DeGannes, Colin Ford; her former husband, Wendell Dottin; other relatives, the Nyacks, Franks, Joneses, Armstrongs, and Williams; and many dear friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Albert Jones.
Margo served as a parent volunteer at St. Joseph's and St. Philip's school events, food drives, etc. as much as she could. Known for her Trinidad sweet bread, she loved baking and cooking and helped with personal bake sales to raise funds for cancer patients, including raising money for a young boy from South Africa for his cancer treatment.
The family of Margo Ruiz-Jones would like to thank Memorial Sloan Kettering Hospital, CareOne Facilty, and Centrica Care Navigators for taking care of her.
The family would also like to extend their appreciation and gratitude for all the love, care and support to her in her time of need. She will be deeply missed by her family. May she rest in eternal peace.
The family will receive friends between 1:00 to 3:00 pm, with a memorial service at 1:30pm on Friday, December 9, 2022, at the Lehrer-Gibilisco Funeral Home located at 275 West Milton Ave in Rahway.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Cancer Society (https://raiseyourway.donordrive.com/campaign/In-Honor-of-Margo-Ruiz-Jones) would be appreciated.
