Marguerite Mullenneaux Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Oct. 25 to Oct. 26, 2011.
Mullenneaux, Marguerite "Peggy" ALBANY Marguerite Mullenneaux, age 93, entered into eternal life Saturday, October 22, 2011. Born in Albany on August 14, 1918 she was the daughter of the late Elbert Verity and Marguerite Staats Mullen-neaux. Peggy was a graduate of Albany Academy, Smith College and SUNY Albany with a master's degree in library science. She served as a reference librarian for the Albany Public Library for over 40 years and never took a sick day. She was also the head reference librarian for the Albany Room. She preformed reference work for local area notables, Assemblyman Jack McEneny and Pulitzer Prize winning author William Kennedy. After retiring Peggy continued her love of books at the Bryn Mawr Bookstore and then she would return home to her own library of over 3,000 books. Peggy always enjoyed vacationing in Nantucket and lobster dinners. She wouldn't stop eating until every last lobster morsel was enjoyed. She would often donate her other lobster to the lunch "special" lobster salad for more enjoyment the next day. Peggy also enjoyed weekends at the family country home in Rensselaerville and prided herself on never missing the New York Times crossword every Sunday. She was an active philanthropist giving to many local charities, libraries and the arts as well as a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Albany. Loving sister of Helen Mullenneaux Howard and the late Elbert Verity Mullenneaux Jr. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, October 27, 2011 at the Tebbutt Funeral Home, 633 Central Ave., Albany. Interment will be in Albany Rural Cemetery, Menands. Donations in Peggy's memory may be made to the Food Pantries for the Capital District, 32 Essex St., Albany, NY 12206, www.thefoodpantries.org. Pam & Michael,

Very sorry to hear about the death of your Aunt Peggy. Although I did not know her personally, I feel like I did because of the funny and interesting stories you shared about her life.

I suspect Peggy is looking down on you and smiling as she enjoys lobster and crossword puzzles. My thoughts are with you both during this time of sadness.
