Maria Barbara Obituary
Binghamton: Maria Nina Barbara, 89, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, June 16, 2011 at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was predeceased by her parents, Giovanni and Rosaria D'Angelo; her sisters, Iduccia Tracanna and Maria Cotti. She is survived by her loving husband of 50 years Giuseppe Barbara, Binghamton; her loving daughter and son-in-law, Cecilia and Michael Dellacorino, Binghamton; grandchildren that were her pride and joy, Christina, Gabriella and Anthony Dellacorino, Binghamton; brothers and sisters-in-law, Antonio and Antonietta D'Angelo, Switzerland; Narino and Tittina D'Angelo, Switzerland; sisters, Nicoletta Realini, Como, Italy; Antonietta Cotti, Switzerland; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Carlo and Gioconda Barbara, Endicott; sisters-in-law, Angela Fontona, Sicily; Maria Barbara, Ridgewood, NY; several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends; special friends, Nicoletta Masciarelli and Mary Ellen Allegrino; special caregiver, Ellie Johnson, who was like a daughter; special canine companion, Buddy. Maria's goals in life were to see her first grandchild graduate from high school and go to college and to celebrate her 50th Wedding Anniversary with her husband, Giuseppe. Maria's wishes were fulfilled. She was a devout member of St. Mary of the Assumption Church and worked the annual bazaar selling lupine. She was also a member of the Women's Abruzzese Club. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, June 21, 2011 at 8:45 AM from the James V. DeMarco & Son Funeral Home, 737 Chenango Street, Port Dickinson, NY and continue with a Funeral Mass at 9:30 AM in St. Mary of the Assumption Church. Entombment will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to call at the DeMarco & Son Funeral Home Monday, June 20, 2011 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM. The women of the Abruzzese Club will meet at the funeral home on Monday at 6:00 PM. Please consider memorial contributions in Maria's memory to St. Anthony's Orphanage Fund.
