Maria Burbank Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Oct. 9, 2018.

On January 4, 1943 in Guadalajara Mexico, God blessed Emilia and Primitivo Hernandez with one of his Angels without wings, a beautiful baby girl whom they named Maria Del Refugio. She liked to be called Cookie. Growing up Maria was raised Catholic and felt so much love and devotion for not only the church, but the Lord as well. She dreamt of one day becoming a nun. Little did she know that God had other plans for her. She was given the gift of motherhood and had five beautiful daughters of her own. Her own little angels that she courageously brought to the United States in January of 1972. Cookie was a very head strong independent woman who raised her five girls on her own working relentlessly as a seamstress. Although it was very difficult raising five kids on her own, her faith in God helped her get through those dark days. Along with her motivation when she looks into her little angels eyes she knew she had to succeed in life.

Cookie worked extremely hard to provide for her kids and was a reserved person, but that didn't stop her from making friends. Due to her friendliness, big heart and giving nature she made friends everywhere she went. Cookie put a smile on the faces of those who were blessed in her presence. She loved to go to the thrift stores to find her own little treasures. The biggest treasure she found was in 1985 when she met Warren. That was a God-sent treasure she did not want to lose and married on October 18, 1985 and became a father figure to her 5 girls. They were even blessed to help with the raising of their grandkids. That was a time they were renamed and will always be known as Tita and Grand Daddy.

They loved to explore the world with long road trips to just driving for Scenic views. They dreamed of one day seeing the whole world starting with Egypt. Tita and Grand Daddy were the foundation of the family and whenever in need you could always count on them for a helping hand. With her strive of a better life for her and her kids, Tita planted her roots in the U.S. growing her family from five girls to 13 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

On October 8, 2018 God granted Tita her wings to go home for a work well done here on Earth. With her newly found Wings she is now able to travel the world as planned with Grand Daddy by her side.

PADRE NUESTRO

Padre nuestro,
que estás en el cielo.
Santificado sea tu nombre.
Venga tu reino.
