Maria Carrano, age 91, passed away peacefully on February 8, 2023. Born on April 16, 1931. Maria was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who lived a life filled with love, laughter and a deep devotion to her family.

Maria was preceded in death by her husband Pasquale Carrano, and one of her children ( Herbert von Schilling). She leaves behind her children Julia von Schilling, Raymond Carrano (Tracy), Gina Brett, and Patrice Sherling (Ronald), who will miss her dearly. Maria was also a loving grandmother to 9 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

Throughout her life, Maria had a deep passion for cooking and spending time with her family and friends. She will always be remembered for her warm smile, loving nature, and her selflessness in putting the needs of others before her own. Maria had a passion for service to others. She was a PTA member, School Board President and was named Citizen of the Year in Oceanside, NY in 1981.

Maria will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. A private family service will be held in her honor. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Trustbridge Hospice Foundation.

She was my aunt and I loved her very much. Time wasn't on my side to see her and uncle Patsy. But my thoughts will never be erased.
