COLONNA, MARIA “LENA” FERREIRA Maria “Lena” Ferreira Colonna, 62, of Orange, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 28, 2014 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was the loving wife of Giovanni Colonna for 38 years. Lena was born in Chaves, Portugal on April 17, 1952; daughter of Margarida Ferreira and the late Helder Ferreira. She had worked for Hair Chateau of Hamden for the past 30 years until leaving due to illness. Lena enjoyed her frequent trips to the casino with the girls but most of all she enjoyed her family whom she loved unconditionally. Beloved mother of Luca and Italo and his wife Sonia Colonna. Loving and devoted grandmother of Giana and Loredana. Beloved sister of Helder Luis Ferriera and Carlos Ferriera. Her funeral procession will leave the North Haven Funeral Home 36 Washington Avenue Saturday morning at 9:15. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in Holy Infant Church at 10:00. Entombment will follow in the St. Lawrence Mausoleum. The visiting hours will be Friday from 4 to 8 pm. I have lived next door to Maria and John for the past 13 years. She was always so wonderful to my sons and myself and we had many wonderful talks. She was one of the sweetest and nicest people I have ever known in my life. I will miss her so much..RIP Maria..I will never forget the kindness you showed to my boys and I or how you were always smiling...my condolences to your family..there is now another angel watching over all of us from heaven...

I feel blessed that during the past few months I got to know you a little better, and will now cherish the few visits we had this past month while I was visiting my sister at Hospice.
